Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • Old, dusty nose, with notes of black fruit and vinegar. Palate is light and dusty at first, then there's a bit of fullness, then it explodes with rich, powerful fruit. Flavours of blackberry jam, cassis, and liquorice, with perfumed notes of guava and cola.

  • {cork, 13.5%} Aging, but still with freshness, power. Plums, mulberries and currants. Lovely aged cabernet flavours, with a sweet fruit twist. Medium dusty tannins, balanced medium acidity. Medium bodied, with a medium/long finish. Really impressive, and nowhere near falling over.

  • {cork, 13.5%} Developing currenty fruit; always black-tinged rather than green; it manages to smell deliciously ripe without sweetness. And the palate follows, with ripe currant fruit, with just a touch of herbs without ever seeming unripe; the oak is very much in the background, and the tannins are medium-level but ultra-fine and barely intrude. This is immensely drinkable in a medium-bodied way; it has an attractive medium length finish which leads easily to the next glass. I was very impressed with this, which is barely even approaching its peak I think. Cellar another decade easily.
