Ullage: just above base of neck. Short cork. Nose of dry, dusty timber, with background notes of red chili and cumin, and later, vanilla and musk. Palate is faded, dusty, and light-bodied, with tart acidity. Most of the tannin and flavour has faded away, but what little remains is quite pleasant. Faint flavours of red apple, pomegranate, stale cake, and powdered ginger. Unquestionably past its prime, probably by about 10 years, but still offering a lot of pleasure.

Really enjoyed this. Lovely muted aniseed, cassis, blackberry, leather, dusty earth on the nose. The tannins are exceedingly smooth, and the palate just lingers on and on. Cork was in perfect condition. So much subtle complexity here - a lovely expression of Cabernet.

Clearly a superior bottle from my last tasting note. Staining 1/3 up cork only, no ullage. Brick red, fading to light orange rim, obviously old. Drunk at cellar temperature with Deb's lasagne. Lovely tertiary characteristics on nose with leather, cedar, mead, sweet spice. Smooth very good old wine with still drying tannins, sweet light raisin fruit and a long, long finish. Clearly top notch old cabernet in a medium bodied frame with elegance, lightness on the tongue the style. Can last (not improve) another 5 years if the cork is sound (a rarity!). Personally I would drink up. A classic in the earlier picked style that sadly has disappeared from the Australian landscape.

From an ullaged bottle. light brick red edge. Mint, probably choc mint note on nose. Smells light if there is such a thing. Smooth light entry to mouth, still with good fine tannin. light flavour profile, clearly old and a nice drop with lamb chops. Fading fruit with tertiary characteristics but with a surprisingly long finish. If you don't like it add a drop of port to strengthen it up, sounds weird but it works. AnonymousCoward nailed the descriptors for this wine.

Lovely aged Cabernet, with aniseed, cassis and mint on the nose. The palate is medium bodied, with smooth tannins, and a long finish of earthy notes, leather, tar and savoury spice. All achieved with 12% ABV - nice change from the 14%+ that's usual in Aus.
