Starts out discreet before unveiling a roasted bouquet of black fruit, pie filling, pencil shavings, and carob. Very Bordeaux like in the mouth, showing plenty of finesse, black currant fruit juiciness, agreeable depth, and bottle age complexity. Gets better the longer it sits, tensing up on the finish. Balanced, tasty, and well put together. 89+

It was a closed bottle. Took hours of decanting to bring some life to it, albeit brief. But, what did show up was quite fascinating: it was a deep purple with the slightest bearly noticeable tinge of brick. i thought it would look older. The nose was of cherries, cinnamon, and odly enough coffee cake. The notes were nearly identical. The back pallet was slightly woody, and the finish was med/short. The mouth feel was generally round with some soft tanins initially.
Someone below mentioned it needed to be drunk soon, my impression, however, is that it could benefit from some more laying down.
I'd get another bottle just to see if it changes over time or if this is how Brainaire-Ducru expresses itself. If this is standard for BD, and this is how it is in a good year, it was disappointing.

Decanted a few hours, it needs it. A little woody out of the bottle. Modern style and a little basic. Cassis, cedar, blackberry and currents dominate the flavour profile. A little angular all though it did open up nicely after time in air.

375ml. PNP with impressive nose. Tannic at the back of the palate. Did not feel it was young. Held up well throughout the night at JG. Not very sophisticated. Should pair well with some light fares though.

Wasn't expecting much for a 2nd wine from a 4th growth, but turned out to be very enjoyable. Dense, concentrated fruits, long persistent finish.
