Nose of brown sugar, sandalwood, cepes de Bordeaux, cigar box, hint of prunes, already quite evolved… Nice taste of crisp strawberries, very fruity, lenght of 45 seconds, delicious!!

Dark red; powerful, masculine, dark fruit, licorice; tobacco leather nose, a bit dry tannins at the end; a fine wine, but why the hype? (Flor 06 also tasted, also a bit disappointing - perhaps 06 is not a good Pingus year?)

Wine Group Dinner #174, Harveys Restaurant, Brisbane. Cult Wines of the World (Harvey's Restaurant, James St, Fortitude Valley): Wine Group Dinner #174, Harveys Restaurant, Brisbane. the 2006 Pingus is a wine of the sun with a dense dark colour and a striking nose of dark raspberry, blackberry, geranium and game meats. The palate is rich, round and palate staining yet it has fine length with a tangy background of fine tannins. Its hard to know where this wine goes with time but it's delicious and interesting now.

Amazing power and finesse. Big but not heavy handed. Touch of heat on the finish.
