Dim Sum Club at Imperial Treasure Teochew (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Tanjong Pagar): Still fairly youthful for something past it’s 20th year, but this was very good. I liked the nose, with its wafts of dark berries, sweet black cherries and wood spice backed against a more savoury base of earth and meat, ferrous mineral and olive tapenade. The palate had a nice backbone of fine, firm tannins and bright acidity framing a solid mouthful of dark berry fruit, again lined with ferrous, gravelly mineral and olive tapenade, all this leading into a spicy, slightly earthy finish. Very solid and nicely energetic and lively, with a nice transparency and purity to the fruit, yet with enough structure to suggest it can age gracefully over the next decade or more. A good, solid wine.

Drinking up some old bottles of BdMs these days. Gift from Luca and Andrea, when visiting Rome many years ago. Thanks, gents. Wasn't sure I would like it...., but I was very pleasantly surprised. Stored in a very cool cellar. Ullage was quite good, at 3/4" below the base of the cork. Cork was in good shape too.
Decanted to reveal medium-light sediment. The mahogany color is lovely and indicative of a wine that is mature, but not over the hill. Nose showed immediately a touch of vanilla and mocha - of all things, but that soon blew-off. Later, the nose and palate revealed rich (fully integrated) notes of leather, mellow black tea tannins, and dollops of rose and licorice. Flavors remained nicely proportioned throughout the 1.5 hrs. of drinking with cherry, anise, leather, tea, and a bit of apple at the end. Again, fully integrated with nicely balanced tertiary fruit and tannins. This will last a few more years if cellared property and/or in a larger format. Nice!

Bottle #2 of 3. This bottle different from the last. Sour fruited the first hour, then showing beautiful shoe polish and deep fruit notes. Nice acidity, and fully resolved silky tannins. Medium finish. Fading the next day, so time to drink up.
