2007 Burgundy, round 2 (Noize): Previous experience with Bernstein was a bit bruising and not hugely enjoyable, but this wine was excellent tonight - plenty of fruit and the trademark solidity of Clos de la Roche without any sense of over-extraction.

This wine has a deep colour of dark cherry with some red edges. The nose is perfumed with blueberry, dark cherry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate with touches of root vegetables, age and earth. The palate is medium weight with gentle fruit characters leading a fine finish with touches of earth and savage so characteristic of this vineyard.

Dad's bottle. Nose of spice, some savory - tomato and blood/meat maraschino cherry. Bloody and sweet and spices, tart. Perfume , very tart red fruit and cranberry and such finish some spice. A bit of soy and meaty. At the current price the QPR isn't very good, but at what my dad paid, it's pretty good. Nose - 5.5/6, palate - 5/6, finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 16.5/20.

The softest and most elegant Bernstein I've had. These are usually bruisers, but this was elegant and open-knit, if not quite grand cru level. Tasty wine.

This wine has a deep colour of dark cherry with some red edges. The nose is perfumed with blueberry, dark cherry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate with touches of age and earth. The palate is medium weight with the lovely fruit of the best 07s and that sauvage character of great CdlR. There is a lovely persistence to this wine which appears to have unfurled with age.
