  • This wine came back from the dead twice. We opened it to serve in a blind tasting featuring Barberas against Nebbiolos. But the wine showed a taint in the nose, so we removed it from the tasting. The next day we rechecked the wine, and the the smell was fine but the body had a cardboard taste. 6 days after the tasting, we retasted the wine, fully expecting having to pour the tainted wine away in the lawn. But, amazingly, the wine was now free of any off flavor, so we put it into our drinking rotation. See through ruby color with no brown tone, off odor, or bad taste. Fine balance of acidity, fruit, and tannin, with note worthy structure, texture, and smoothness. Very enjoyable by itself and with food. Overall, an impressive example of how well Nebbiolo, even at the lowest level of Langhe, can age and hold magnificently, here 19 years old yet remains fully drinkable.

  • Fine drinking, at the curve and entering decline but still with a few years of pleasant sipping ahead. Don't match it with something big or acidic as it leans to the delicate.

  • Wine Education Service - Italy - The North West: Dense mahogany.
A fruit cake nose with animal notes.
Very acid attack, tasting like a light port, somewhat oxidised, medium length.
