Expressive nose, lots of farmyard and a noticeable green streak from pyrazines. May be not perfectly ripe grapes but it works with the richness of the wine. This is funky, wild, fresh and very drinkable. True Northern Rhone, not for the faint hearted but so distinctive and aromatic. Better than the 2006 and on par with the 2001 which I had a few weeks back.

Absolutely awesome. Medium ruby, a finely detailed, scented nose, gentle, elusive scents of pot pourri and spices. Super smooth and totally a point, it is light-bodied yet concentrated, with a long finish. Almost haunting, this is an homage to the greatness Syrah can achieve on its home turf. In the zone, but will probably drink well for a few years yet.

Magnum. Svært rasetypisk syrah med sorte oliven, bål, krekling, mørke bær. Veldig fin fruktsødme inn, deretter flott struktur. Men ikke egentlig umoden. Den har en bitteliten uren tone på toppen, liten tca?

Houston Northern Rhone Blowout: I wasn't a great fan of this wine. It showed some vintage heat with roasted fruit and red pepper. I think the bottle was sound, but this was a reminder that I need to avoid particularly warm vintages.

(Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas) Rather than offering single-vineyard bottlings, Clape puts its best grapes into this cuvée, and it shows. Riper and meatier than in recent years, it displays a surprisingly plush midpalate for such a long-haul wine. Will improve over the next decade and longer. Cornas: Revolution and Evolution
