Bought this bottle because of the very positive review in the recent Wine Spectator given to the 2007 vintage. I was certainly not that impressed with this 2006, although it was perfectly fine for a plain, old classico. It's refined, it's a little muted, maybe even a little flat, but it was nonetheless a fine compliment to my wife's meatless meat sauce and linguine.

I really have a hard time figuring out why the previous notes on this wine are so negative - relatively speaking, of course. Had this last night with and without food. I found it very enjoyable and quite true to its terroir (Panzano in Chianti) AND its varietal (mainly Sangiovese - 98%). Still, it has an upside potential as it became more and more complex with air. Mediium-bodied, it shows finesse and good fruit with a vibrant acidity to go with it. Personally, I found it to show what you would want in an entry-level Chianti Classico from a solid producer. If you are comparing this wine to Petresco from the same winery or other (single vineyard) CC Riserva, well...then you're judging the wine wrong. Will peak in a year or two, I think. 88+
Eh, nothing particular good. Had nice acidity, some strawberry and cherry flavors, but short finish and nothing that would make me want to buy it again. Generic flavor profile. Almost didn't taste like sangiovese.

This is a classically proportioned Chianti, not overdone in any way, fresh acids, nice style.
