Deep red clear colour with slight brown on edge. Nose of cherry, forest floor and spice. Similar flavours with a touch of sarsaparilla and savouriness. Drinking beautifully - very enjoyable wine.

Decanted 30 minutes as it warmed by the table. Lovely forest floor from the glass, giving nothing away from that which was to follow. Blackberry, blue berry, spice, chewy tannins at 8 years of age (which mellow after an hour open), and medium acidity this could kick on for years unlike the previous night's '05 which had seen its best days.
This is a great Pinot regardless of Producer or age. I enjoy my Freycinets however this is a standout. Developing some Shiraz characteristics which I perceive from the secondary characters; spice and blackberry building over the black cherry and peppery spices. Great bottle.

Quite tight nose, dark raspberry fruits. Beautiful bright colour, ageing at edge. Very long, gentle tannic finish, great balance. Quite big, cherries, big fruit.

Red purple colour. Still so fresh and vibrant – those fine tannins still very much present. Has years left, which I was happily surprised about. Quite powerful and dark fruited – dark cherry, plum, even hints of blackberry, with some raspberry and undergrowth. Vanilla oak in support. Really long. I expected to enjoy this but maybe not as much as I did. 93 – 94 for me.

Outstanding wine of real complexity and subtle nuance. Has literally blown away every Pinot recently consumed from Oz. Amazing length and persistence and wowed all those present. Just took another few bottles into the cellar thankfully.

(Freycinet Pinot Noir) #3; VaynerPAZZZ (based on QPR); COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little tight right now; hair of rubber, bacon and cherry concoction; very dark red fruit as well; a little vegetal action on the back-end which I like; like an imaginary blend of Burgundy and Cab Franc; PALATE-good fruit; very clean; great tannin structure on the back-end; this wine has an exceptional backbone; still very young; very dark; dark chocolate shavings on my inner cheeks; gets quite floral on the mid-palate as well; the alcohol spikes a little on the back-end; little hints of black pepper; very good, but a little expensive to compete with the NZ Central Otago Pinots; good, but a little pricey; some good potential; GV-89+
