During a tasting. Funky nose, whole clusters, red fruit. I was getting a bit too much asparagus, may be pointing to marginal ripeness. Other than that the wine is racy, elegant and true to its Pinot heritage. After having tasted quite a few AUS Pinots tonight, especially Tasmania, I must say that in terms of interest to Australian wine, I think these cooler site Pinots are very interesting. Barossa Shiraz and Coonawarra CabSav is still the signature of downunder but I find these Pinots a lot more interesting than the uninspiring low-aroma-high-tannin Margret River Bdx blends.

Savoury and balanced, though for me, not a Pinot to drink in the short term. I suspect it will be a definitely better wine with minimum 8 years bottle age.
