This botle of 1999 Chateau Bel-Air was opaque with a smoky, purple plum rim. The boquet was faint with little detectable fruit but more of a damp earth, even vegetal aroma. Decanting is not recommended for any length of time as it becomes limp and lifeless within 30 - 45 minutes. While not quite cooking wine it seems to be in decline and should be consumed in 2007 - the earlier the better as it will not improve.

We drank this 1/30/11 with Cheese Night!
Lot's of wood and earth, dusty! No fruit, used the rest for cooking!

Lots of wood, earth, Dusty. Not a lot of fruit. I think it was past it's prime!

Over the hill... Flat,... Lacks the depth that this wine had just one year ago...
