This was quite good indeed. It had a lovely warm bouquet, with cherries and red berries patted down with more savoury aromas of earth and spice and meat. A rich, generous, more masculine nose - something you sometimes get with the better wines chez M Gros. The palate was a bit thinner than the nose promised at first blush, but had a surprisingly pure and elegant feel to it. Here, a fine layer of tannins and some juicy, lemony acidity wrapped itself around nice flavours of black cherries and dates, spice and mineral, with a touch of savoury meatiness as a backdrop. In spite of the lightness up front, there was a bit of sinew and some sneaky depth, even a bit of quiet power at on the midpalate and into the finish. Not perfect, but this was a fine effort from the house and really quite enjoyable on the night. I think the lightness and purity of the vintage worked well to tamper some of the more rustic, extracted tones that ones sometimes gets with this address.

Opened for 2hrs. Light toasted aromas, brown sugar, sweet herbs, red fruited and quite elegant. Juicy, great acidity, fine tannin, good mouthfeel and texture, well made and at the same time quite exciting, Long, slowly gaining weight on the palate, this could have mistaken as grand cru for the power and complexity. Very good length. . 5hrs later in Zalto glass. The spices is being enhanced at this glass, lifted also the wood is showing, powerful. Savouriness and dark chocolate / mocha is taking place on the palate, again showing touch of new wood towards the mid palate with firmer tannin and good structured that probably needed another 5-7yrs to soften down, even for a 2007. I can only imagine about the bigger vintages such as 2005 & 2009. Still offering good juiciness, light bitterness at the very powerful, palate staining finish.

Decanted 1,5 hrs. Rich, slightly oaky nose with toasted elements of coffee. Dark fruit and a growing aroma palette of perfume, liquorice, eucalyptus, indian Spices and honeysuckle. It grows and grows in the glass and brings forth a minerally scent of light smoke and gunpowder. Very nice indeed. Medium-medium/fullish body, quite powerful and concentrated. A meaty structure combining with a good grip of sour cherries and flowers. The indian spices, the oak, the cinnamon. The tannins are present but rounded. A wine that evolves in the glass, but maybe a little bit odd with its almost bacon-like meatiness. Maybe its due to the extraction that Michel Gros sometimes is known for. On the other hand, Aux Brulées is supposed to be very rich, full examples of Vosnée-Rom, and on that we agreed.

(Gros Michel Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées) Deep and aromatic with herbs over tight red fruit. Concentrated with plenty of tannin. A good mid-plate punch and flavours that fade well. Short note, but good wine.

Fully open at the moment, sweet fruity scent with terroir.
Well balance with spicy finish.
Deep aftertaste, hidden power finished.
Good example for Brulees and this can be a great wine when getting very old, sweet, spice, very classic.
I will buy more if I see it again.
