This one was a stunner! Notes of black licorice, graphite, napa earth/soil, and lots lots of dark black fruit. I was very impressed by this wine and where it is right now. I had this vintage Marston about a year ago and I didn’t feel like it was ready are still closed off but this bottles, with a 30 to 45 minute decant was just bold, yet elegant, and very powerful.

PnP - following the '08 Shafer 1.5 - I found the Marston to be a bit more refined, more earth and leather and a touch more acidity. This wine has matured nicely and seems to be a more balanced napa cab.

Decanted for 1 hour - purchased at the estate back in Aug-2011. This is in a nice drinking window and definitely improves with a bit of air. More of a balanced and traditional styled napa cab which we appreciated. Dark and red fruits, some dusty tannins, hints of tobacco and cedar, a healthy amount of acid. Good balance and medium finish. Quite enjoyable with filet mignon.

Excellent mature wine that still shows loads for fruit.
