From coravin: I agree with the recent note below, this opens to a wonderful jammy explosion of fruit in the glass, even after 20 years. It settles quickly and shifts to a more intriguing state, with a velvety, luxurious finish - bravo!

Marvelous wine-deep ruby color and enticing bouquet of ripe fruit and toast. Medium tannins with a bold finish-tabacco and chocolate dominate this well balanced wine- I do not think there are many 2003 new world Cabs that would show as well after 20 years.

Drank as part of a mini-vertical with the '96 and '99, this was the showiest wine of the bunch, still just shedding its baby fat. Clearly made in a richer style, as befits the era, but with judicious use of oak, and balanced fruit. I'll revisit my remaining bottle in 5-10 years.

Purple in color. 13.5% ABV. Stunning nose of blue and black fruits, molten licorice, scorched earth and leather. Concentrated, big and chewy. Even at 18 years of age there is some youthful exuberance but at the same time some tertiary notes are present. Supreme balance. Blueberries, cassis liqueur, graphite and earth on the palate. The finish on the wine is exceptionally long with an abundance of coarse tannins. Not nearly as good as a recent bottle of the ’02 but still pretty special. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Perfect aged Napa Cab. And the fruit is still singing and going strong for a 18 year old bottle. So smooth and velvety finish.
