Incredibly dark crimson with remarkably little bricking for a 27 year old wine. Not a lot of fruit left, but what's there is a mix of blue and black. Oak is evident but not overpowering. Tannins are still evident medium to medium plus. This wine must have been a beast upon release. The finish is medium plus, about 45 seconds. Goes well with delicate food like tartar.

Classic mature Napa cab, still drinking quite nice. Big bold black fruit oriented, a bit chunky with tasty profile, though little nuance. Hold or drink.

Very little fruit left but great with coffee, chocolate, leather, anise. One problem was after being open for a bit became oxides. None the less was still good. Last drank in a vertical tasting about 4years ago and had only lost a little. Won't go any longer.

Brought to Knightsbridge for informal try. Found wine nice, but uninteresting. Will hold for five more years, but don't see it improving. Dry cherry fruits, round mouthfeel, was good, but just kinda laid there. Would be better with found then on own.

Well this mirrors my previous TN on this wine from last year. I am totally amazed by several things with this wine. First is the color. Almost 17 years and this looks like it could have been from the 2004 vintage. Absolutely no bricking or loss of it's impenetrable inky purple color. Second is that both Parker and WS scored this wine at 85 points. There is no doubt that this wine must have been a tannic beast in it's youth because the tannins are still quite firm. But this wine just sings with secondary scents and flavors. Subterranean black fruit, leather, graphite and garrique. Substantial dusty dry tannins. Better have lots a fat in the steak with this one. Really enjoyable...85?
