Aromas of Oak, spice box, plumb sauce and earth. Did not detect any green, nor herbaceous notes. Yes, I agree oak was a bit too dominant in the aroma. Flavor was darker fruits and still plumb and ripe blueberries. Yes, tannins, but a good level to reign in the delicious fruit. Chalk/limestone terroir was also on the finish. Overall, a fine example of St. Emilion from a vintage that was about balance. 2008 Right Banks are drinking beautifully now.

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London): Medium minus intensity aromas of oak, plum, sweet spice, very slightly gamey note with a herbaceous underpin, a little brambly note as well. Medium plus intensity mouth watering acidity, again preposterously woody tannins are chalky and dominate the palate. What is the purpose of this wine? Surely the idea is to sample the terroir of the grapes not the oak forest...

Drinking very well. PnP, not a lot of change over the 2 hours it took to finish the bottle. Elegant wine with just a touch of acid and tannin and some cassis and cedar.

Really nice St Emilion here, really nice for an ‘off year’. Ripe cherry, some plum, very nice nose, medium-long finish. A smidge of pine! 93 here. Tastes like it’s in prime drinking window to me.

Getting some more tertiary characteristics but still lots of bold fruit.
