What a beautiful Roussanne. Plenty of honeysuckle, orange citrus and stone fruit, but less waxy texture than expected and far better acid. I wouldn't be surprised if this wine remains delightful when 20 years old.

Bob Lindquist told my boss a few years back over lunch that he considered this the best wine he's ever made. Needless to say I stashed our last bottle immediately. But I always had a lingering doubt about whether this would keep and mature well in bottle so took Christmas lunch as the right time to open it. And now how I wish I'd bought more bottles at the time. This is still a pup, the colour is really lovely but I can see where the urine comparison comes from! One of those wines that shines through restraint and shyness it took a full 12 hours to get it's mojo going moving through all sorts of exotic fruits with a luscious, fatty texture that really belied its modest 12.5%. I'm writing this note nearly two months after consuming it and the memory of this wine lives long. I expect anyone with bottles left to be enjoying this for another five to ten years. If it takes on more fragrance it'll move into the really exceptional zone.

I don't quite know how to put this, but the wine looked like concentrated urine- someone in the room suggested gold- but was refuted by the others in the room. In a vote 5 to 1, urine was deemed the color of the wine- which set a really interesting, if not awkward tone for the rest of the wine we all were to drink.
However.
It was not all put into a negative light.
Notes of big, lush, ripe stone fruit was reminiscent of a lighter botrytized wine we very prevalent. Macerated pears, with over-ripe apricot, white peach and zingy nectarines the wine was definitely aromatic, filling the room (literally) with it's perfume. Then we sipped, and were underwhelmed. The giant nose gave way to a racy, leaner white wine than we thought we were getting ourselves into. The restraint in the wine was puzzling- but also different, which was appreciated by some, and loathed by others. Notes of ripe peach and light notes of pear were established on the palette, a little barrel presence of oak and vanilla.
Overall: I personally liked this wine- The big nose did it for me, while the big acidity required a bit of getting used to; I really enjoyed this wine.

Drinking really well. Typical Roussanne flavors but backed up being great acidity.

Actually very similar to my note from 3.5 years ago. Wine doesn't seem like it has budged. Quite nice.
