Fantastic acidity on this aged CdP. Dark fruit, olives, garrigue, roast beef, smoke, spice and herbs. It reminds me a lot more of the north than the south but there is that classic hint of Kirsch on the nose that brings me back down. No signs of over-ripeness at all. Dry, tannins are ripe, rounded and fully resolved. No heat perceived and a long, engulfing finish. A mature red that is drinking wonderfully if you like such development. Drink on the short term.

Gave this bottle to my dear brother ten years ago. And now ten years later he decided to pull out the cork. The nose was actually really spectacular, well aged with fruity notes, vanilla and tobacco. But taste wise this wine had seen better days. Lacking acidity it seems like this wine had it’s peak 5 years ago, and been declining ever since. Luckily he chose not to wait another 5 years. By then the nose will most certainly have turned into vinegar. Thanks for letting us taste...

I wonder if CDP ever really lives to a long age? Not in my experience anyway albeit limited opportunities. Purchased at CD and stored well for the past 7 years. Some tar and stink, a little fizz in the palate, but just a bit funky for my liking (and I don't mind a bit of funk). Tangy finish. Drink now.

Châteauenuf-du-Pape 2007 - ten years after (chez moi): Candy-like fruit, rich – seems overdone; gets more creamy, inviting but lots of kirsch here. Was a favorite among the bad tempered tasters, not sure why, maybe because there is a little bit of lightness here, that other wine3 were lacking. Just a wee bit tired on day 2, alcohol persists though.
