Trying to simplify my cellar by consuming wines I have one bottle of and are unusual. Purchased a number of years ago at Terroir Wine Bar, here in San Francisco. Stored in a cool cellar since. This wine is not really my cup of tea, yet others appear to enjoy it. Medium light yellow color. Wine is very sherry-like. Flavors are very sharp with tons of bitter almond, dry caramel apple, and earth. Lots of mouth-watering acidity. Seems sound and probably has more years to go, but I am not a good judge of Jura wines. Not really my style, which is just my own opinion, and probably does not reflect what others - who like Jura wines - find compelling.
(Served with chicken in mustard sauce, green beens, and saffron rice.)

Medium yellow gold. Distinctly oxidative nose, brown apples, dry wool, Mananilla. The palate is intense but not sharp, savory, slightly salty, ripe nuts, the taste of the scent of bitter olive oil, overripe pommes and white stone fruit. Long finish, a relatively fruity and friendly vin jaune. One day later, the softness is gone, this is an excellent VJ.

Whoa. Nutty, saline, bittersweet all reminiscent of amontillado sherry but with this tangy, tannic depth and acidic core that is so superb. Love it.
