The aroma draws you in. Dried flowers, beef stock, soy and dark cherry. Elegance, with latent power. Velvety, expansive, penetrating and long. Seriously good.

02384/7405. Quite open and display the classic Leroy perfume pack after half an hour. Dark cherries, cool fruit, very detailed spice, hint of meat, array of earthy aromas. The vintage sexy fruit is there in a composed harmony with the dark profile, showing more constraint than flamboyance. Palate is deep, complex, layered yet precisely focused. Great wine indeed. 95+

Wine Dinner # 163 - 2007 Domaine Leroy (Urbane Restaurant, Brisbane): Tasted at the 2007 Leroy dinner. This is an impressive Vougeot with a deep dark cherry colour and a great nose of dark cherry, blueberry, earth, game and truffle. There is lovely body and density leading into a fine persistent finish. There is plenty of material for further development of this lovely bottle of CdV.
When I first opened this up to give the wine some air my first impression was "at least it isn't corked". But after 90 mins, I was shocked when I poured and tasted it as it seemed to have gained so much more substance and was showing so well. Quite fruit forward and a very ripe style of burgundy (perhaps to make up for the skinnier 2007 vintage), this was beautifully ripe, no hint of green or unripe notes. Quite big and perhaps not the peacock's tail that everyone is seeking but a delicious showing and near best in class for Clos Vougeot! Is it worth $1000/bt, certainly not in my mind but it wasn't my bottle so delighted to enjoy the treat from a generous friend!

Big powerful and almost rustic. Much more dark fruit, mushrooms, earth and a rhubarb note. The spice is still there though! Muscular palate. Nice, but not a lot of finesse here.
