  • Elegant red fruit, flowers, and unfortunately oxidative soy sauce notes which grow with air. I’m not sure if the oxidation is par for the course for a 16 year old 2007, given how weak a vintage it was. I’ve had better and worse surviving Grand Cru of 2007. It is drinkable but pales in comparison when sitting next to a lively 2018 Rousseau Clos de la Roche.

If this bottle is representative, then drink up. Otherwise I wish future tasters an experience more akin to prior tasting notes (94s and all) which prompted me to fork down $350 for this bottle.

  • The first of five wines enjoyed with a good friend over a long afternoon and evening.

Expressive perfume of bright, crunchy, and sweet berries, spruce forest, wintergreen, wild mushrooms, and loam. Opulent and rich. Exceptional overall balance, although one feels the listed 14 abv. In a very good place and likely to hold form for several years to come. 93-94.

  • Tasting evening and dinner with a good friend.
Note from memory and some comments recorded on my phone later in the evening.
Generously provided by my friend. On the nose I got red berries and spice, maybe a bit of wet earth. On first sip I immediately thought Cranberries, maybe a bit of strawberry, and spice. The high quality fruit came across a little softer than I expected, but I mainly drink Bordeaux so that makes sense. Fruit, spice and acidity were well balanced and the wine flows effortlessly across the palate. The 94 score comes from the fact that my friend mentioned it while we were tasting it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have scored it, but 94 feels right. Many thanks to my friend for affording me this opportunity.

  • Dark berry and Asian spice. Strong perfume of dark crushed berry, high tone minerality, suis bois, velvet, and Vosne spice. Pretty on the palate but restrained. Somewhat austere on the back end. Would benefit with time.

  • This was drinking younger than the last time I had it but still beautiful. Crunchy red berries, smoke and ash, forest floor, high toned red fruits with a very uplifting bouquet and balance on the palate.
