  • Very clean bottle that improved over the course of an hour in the glass before plateauing for another hour. Fruit still present, particularly across the midpalate, and still reasonable definition. Very good bottle.

  • This is the third time I have had this wine. Unfortunately it is the last one in my cellar. It has great acidity and mineral flavors which produce a great backbone for the wine. There is a subtle saline and mineral component in the background and lemon zest with pear and peach in the foreground . Really a first rate wine.
The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like apple, pear, melon, flint, mineral and apple blossom. It tastes like lemon, pear, apple, melon, mineral, flint and stoniness. The body is medium. The wine has linear texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

  • Gor. Geous. As fine as any wine on this night, and that includes the Richebourg and RSV. Aromatically complex and wonderful, with richness in toffee and mushrooms and incense and stones, a pungent and very long nose, if that makes any sense. Many of us preferred the nose on the Caillerets actually, and I can see that - they were actually very similar at this point. The Ruchottes was the better wine though, and this is seen in the density and pungency and length of the mid palate through the finish. Such complexity and texture. Wonderful wine. It needed the hour plus open before hand, and the 45 minutes it spent in the glass.

  • A great experience, to drink this bottle. The wine was superb upon opening, with complex aromatics that felt fresh and really soared, pungent and expressive. Stone, some incense, musky fruit that showed some tropical notes, shiitake mushrooms. Perfectly round on the palate and felt seamless - pure and fresh tasting and left a pungent aroma in the mouth and nose after swallowing. Lacking a bit of midpalate depth and complexity, but still, this delivered on the promise of a 30+ year old white Burg. I opened it and poured off an ounce an hour before we drank it, which turned out not to be the right move because I think it was best over the first half hour.
