Portugal Reds 1988-2013: Consistent with my previous TN. Still very youthful colour of a younger Cabernet. Nose of aronia and black cherries as well as spices, jamon and meat notes. Very high acidity, even tartness. Tannin is present here, goes well with food.

So youthful by the colour and taste, I knew Baga in the hands of Luis Pato was a grape of outstanding ageability, but exactly the scope of it was surprising. Dark, deep colour of a 5 y.o. Cab. Well restrained nose of dark fruits and ceder. Rather soft on the palate, caressing, integrated, suede like texture. There is a notion that Baga is a Nebiolo of Portugal, but it was much more fruity, juicy, open and mild on the palate than Barolo.
