  • Portugal Reds 1988-2013: Consistent with my previous TN. Still very youthful colour of a younger Cabernet. Nose of aronia and black cherries as well as spices, jamon and meat notes. Very high acidity, even tartness. Tannin is present here, goes well with food.

  • So youthful by the colour and taste, I knew Baga in the hands of Luis Pato was a grape of outstanding ageability, but exactly the scope of it was surprising. Dark, deep colour of a 5 y.o. Cab. Well restrained nose of dark fruits and ceder. Rather soft on the palate, caressing, integrated, suede like texture.
There is a notion that Baga is a Nebiolo of Portugal, but it was much more fruity, juicy, open and mild on the palate than Barolo.
