I am not sure whether this bottle was designated a classico, a classico superiore, or a recioto, but it was probably the former. It showed a clear medium blood-ruby-mahogany-rust-brick red color. The bouquet suggested a blend of Amaretto and Grand Marnier without the alcoholic heat; along with hints of cloves, cinnamon, and sherry. Other than the red color, there were no aromas or flavors to suggest this liquid ever originated from red grapes. Nevertheless it was crisp, pure, vibrant, and thrilling to enjoy.

Big, dry, and raisiny. I have spoken with others who disliked this vintage, but I found it quite nice. Supple and inviting. The bouqet practically attacked me out of the bottle.
Grab some carbonara and drink up!
