I rather liked this wine, due to its sweet side. This is like a glass of dried red fruits, with notes of dried flowers and potpourri. Not that broad on the palate and could use more strength in the midpalate, but I'm charmed anyway. 83's on 83rd Street

This was the youngest Bertani that we tried in our Amarone retrospective, and it was by all means a winner. The color was a dark ruby red, with only hints of garnet. Plums, dried fruits and spices on the nose. In the mouth, it is very structured and intense, and the tannins are still quite pronounced. Bottled in early 1993, it was aged for 8 years in oak barrels before release. I would say that it is at its peak, but it is not past it by any means.

Amarone tasting with "No Name" wine club (My House - Copenhagen): The first time for me with such an old Amarone. A somewhat reserved nose but still very complex. Starts with a little sewer and a hint of spices. Afterwards there is sour cherries, figs and also darker tones of soy, liquorice and black tea. The mouth is sweet but still with a gripping acidiy. It is very explosive and wild but still in a very elegant way. A slight bitterness at the end. It has an aromatic sweetness to it and a very nice backbone. What a surprice!! A wine that is definately its own but still very enjoyable and age worthy.

Strong cork nose when first opened. Decanted for an hour and wine opened up nicely. Cedar and Prune to the nose. Very balanced on the palate. Would buy again. Find the maturer wine more complex than the younger wines.
