PnP, opened after the '08 Spring Mountain Vineyards cab wasn't doing the trick with the braised lamb shanks. Aromas of dry earth, red berries and plums, with a nice funky edge to it. In the mouth, the wine is medium bodied, rustically styled with flavors of soft red fruits, earth, old wood, and creosote. There is a nice acidity to the wine that keeps the fruit bright and in the front of the complex secondary flavors, nice balance-good progression.
I don't think the wine is past prime, but is in fact just starting to get interesting. The fruit is starting to fade a bit, but the tertiary flavors are really starting to develop- to me, this makes the wine.

Bought this on a visit to our friends in Provence. Medium to full bodied. Tannins have mellowed out nicely. Not as complex as a great CNDP but wonderful with red meat. Last of this wine for us, unfortunately.

Rich purple/garnet in color. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry, garrigue, smoke, and licorice. Medium-bodied, with flavors of red raspberries - okay. Opened up beautifully three days later. Score based on that.

This wine was simply too young to drink (and rate). Very grapey (concord grape juice). A little clove and allspice on the nose, but little distinction on the palate. It opens up to a more barnyard, rustic aroma but still lacks any complexity.

Brought to a family dinner. No tasting notes other than smooth tannins, fading fruit. Went well with roast chicken.
