Bottle 2 of 6. As noted before it is nice enough. Clean wood/cedar/oak taste. Tasted with 2 2011 Clos de la Roche - hospice de beaune (96/96 points) and a Bellene (90 points)

Squarely in the 90 point camp and no higher but possible lower. nose excites but the wine does what it says on the tin but not much else. Flat and dull but pleasant enough. The 93 points I gave to the hospice Mazis Chambertin was clearly unfair as it wipes the floor of this wine. 5 more bottles for late on in a dinner. Drink now as I’m not sure it is going to improve.

Our sommelier warned us that this is a vintage where the wines can tighten and demanded that we notify him if the wine were to shut down. It didn’t but I’m not sure what he would have done if it had. Perhaps take it away and have a heart to heart with it, coaxing it out of its shell? The wine had plenty of high quality oak that was commensurate with the level of powerful fruit. It had a blue fruit profile that I associate with Clos de la Roche but a deep, chunky and powerful palate that screams Vougeot. It was spicy and balanced and back-lit by the vintages electric acidity.

Tasted non-blind with winemaker. Very interesting nose of stewed green vegetables with a hint of melting rubber. Seemed a bit lacking in acidity but with plenty of tannins. Taste had a hint of chalky briarpatch with a spicy transition to the finish. Hold this one for 5 years +.

Cellaraid - Chardonnay Corfefe Luncheon and red wine based Dinner (Tonny's Restaurant): recall the colour as pale ruby, nose packed with red charries, plums and mushrooms, medium finish; pretty good wine, and best to drink now and not age any further
