I've grown disappointed with 08s in general, so was somewhat nervous opening this one... Poured off a short pour, then allowed to open up for an hour or so before pouring a real glass. Nice fruit, early secondary development. Not super rich or long finish, but much nicer than other recent 08s- good bottle of wine.

This is not a bad wine at all. The colour is good red, not deep but the wine appears bright when poured. The nose is dark fruit and the wine is well balanced with tannin and good dark fruit. Maybe the taste is not very long but nothing wrong with this one.

Tasted alongside the 2009 at Scott Paul Winery. Moderate red-garnet color (though somewhat lighter than the 2009). Strikingly elegant, beautiful, balanced nose of violets, currants, earth, graphite, and baking spices. Elegant and balanced on the palate as well. Very complex and subtle with good acidity and a deceptive richness that coats the whole palate. Finishes with some tannic bite (though not rustic) and loads of minerals. While the 2009 had more power and ripeness I found this to be better balanced and more complex.

BBR 2008 Burgundy tasting: No.
Not that it's a bad wine, just that there are wines I prefer for rather less.
