Last of the 1/2 case. This has finished off very strong. Classic tuscan palate of fruits, leather, underbrush. Well made wine that is both forward and restrained. While I thought the last bottle was tired, this one is en pointe and absolutely perfect at 12 years. I would consider rebuying this in an updated vintage.

This remains nice but is fading out a bit in terms of fruit. EtOH seems a bit hot and there is a drying sensation. Even so, there remains a nice band of iron, minerals, dried flowers, and figs. Drink up.

90 - with Italian food (meat lasagne with tomatoes and fennel), about 87 on its own. On its own it was a little tannic and astringent. With the lasagne - and especially with the fennel - it was a much better wine, with beautiful red fruit, cherry, olive and good acidity. I think the wine will be better with time but good now with the right food pairing. Ok value for $20 at Zachy's.

Wine is locked up in stark contrast to the 2 bottles I had last year. Took 2 days of some air to be brought out of it's hard shell which was all bitterness and astringency with hard tannins. Even after a few hours on night one with a proper meal of pasta alla vodka it was just too much. I was expecting it to be near peak but now will save my last bottle as long as I can... probably 5-7 years.
