Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow": Pauillac and St. Julien (By me @ the factory): Uncorked the day before the tasting and double decanted approx. 3 hours prior to the tasting.Beautiful and complex bouquet with e.g. dark berries and graphite. On the palate also dark berries and lead pencil, minerals, juicy and beautiful acidity and round tannin with still a firm and lovely bite. Beautiful and complex wine in its young maturity stage. Textbook Pauillac. I love it. 92 – 93
Unlike what I expected two years ago, this has become rather syrupy and a little coarse. Hopefully just a bad patch, because there's an unpleasant astringency to the finish too. Could of course be a bad bottle.

Beautifully structured this had bags of cassis fruit with notes of cedar and graphite underpinned with robust tannins which quickly melted away to reveal a massive burst of chocolate mocha. Savoury, spicy and fully dry, the finish was sensational. A pedigree Pauillac with real breeding. CHP 92 pts

Decanted for almost 4 hours. Aromas of leather, blackberry, currant and earth. Nose a bit closed down. Flavors of blackberry, currant, cherry, iron and earth. Ends with a 20+ second finish with earth and blackberry notes. Solid but expected more. Needs more time in the bottle for sure

(Château Haut-Bages Libéral) Very dark red violet color; focused, tart currant nose; tasty, tart currant, herbaceous palate with green notes; needs 1-2 years; medium-plus finish
