what a pleasant surprise this wine turned out to be. I held on to a bottle for several years wondering if it would develop further and was rewarded for my patience. Subtle rhone based nose that blossomed after a 2 hr double decant. mild peppery front palate that moved through to a nice lingering finish. This is a very nice wine that should hold for several years if you have any in the cellar. Wish I had more

Agree with previous TN. Not open, not especially evolved. Just a bit flat and boring St Jo. Fell apart after 24h of opening. Puzzling in light of this dependable producer.
Drink or avoid.

Good color with no signs of 10 years of age. Classic liquorice & pepper nose with plums. Fresh on the palate but somewhat closed and not divulging much character. Not sure if this has seen its best days or if it still needs time? Some of these French 2005's are a conundrum - they still seem to be closed or are already fading. The drinking window has been mercilessly short if non-existent in some cases...

Just about fully resolved, meaty and savory and peppery with relaxed structure. Delicious. No reason to wait longer.
