What an interesting wine; loads and loads of black fruit, deep, dark, and serious nose seemingly reluctant to unfurl despite a decant. Loam and subtle tar accents. The 14.6% alcohol amazingly doesn't come through much on the nose of palate, which is huge and tremendously rich. I get the impression that this will take quite a long time to really show all it has to give. How much longer? Who knows. I never assumed a Croatian wine could still be young at 16 years old. But what do I know about Croatian wine, after all?

Wow, this is why you have a cellar. Shared with some wine geek friends, and we loved it. Still some tannins present, but they’re overcome by the elegant blue/black berries. Feels a touch thin through the middle, like I wouldn’t wait 5 more years on this one, but it’s a beauty nonetheless...

Decanted over the course of 2+hours. Moderate sediment. Deep, dark color with slight brick-colored tinge around the edges. Moderate to prominent legs. Forward cedar in the nose, followed by burnt orange and hints of sage. Full-bodied with soft, but still present tannins. Forward cedar in the taste, accompanied by dried fruits, i.e. prune and raisin, and hints of leather and maybe a bit of tar. Truly a lovely and interesting bottle of wine. Should hit its prime soon, and has qualities that suggest it has high potential for still longterm cellaring. Interested to see how this wine changes with further aging.

This wine was very good once it opened up at bit. Make sure you decant it for a while before drinking.
