  • Rich, thick wine that pours like motor oil. Loads of flavors here... figs, raisins, chocolate, caramel, expresso... so many layers. Good (not great) acidity to cover the richness... but if i would nit-pick, it could use a bit more (for my tastes).

  • Black pepper, worchestershire, espresso, figs, 85% dark chocolate, iodine. An interesting salinity makes this somehow drinkable despite its near-solid consistency.

  • Marsala, tar, egg nog spices, cinnamon heat like an atomic fire ball candy, balsamic, rancio, black licorice, very complex to the point where the sugar and alcohol take a back seat to everything else going on. Savory too, I joked that there might be some fish sauce or Worcestershire, but yeah, I can actually see that too!

  • Absolute black, with intense betadine edges. Wow. Nose of egg shells, oil paints, cinnamon bark, Caribbean rum, nutmeg, raging fire. Viscous, chocolate-cinnamon palate with spicy pepper nuances. Raging and mesmerizing. The alcohol (17%) is actually an asset in this wine, which feels weird to say. And the acidity is remarkable for PX. Paired with sea salt brownies.

  • Glass: Sherry Glass
Emptied my bottle which stood open in the fridge with just one glass left for over 8 (!) month.
Deep, dark brown, almost black color, yellow-brownish oily consistency when swirled. Intense, fully developed, fascinating nose: espresso, dark chocolate, dried figs and raisins, spices, herbs.
Thick mouthfeel, high, perfectly integrated acidity which makes the whole wine quite fresh and elegant. This juice covers the whole palate and spreads loads and loads of wonderful aromas in my mouth. Figs, raisins, dried apricots, combined with lovely rancio notes, some olorosso notes, nuts, dark chocolate and sweetness. The finish seems to be never ending and stays for 120+ seconds. Awesome and immortal. I have tortured this wine by banishing for month into my fridge, but it did not fade and seems to be right perfect. Only reason why I don’t give 100 points is that I know the 46er vintage is even better…
