Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 93.0 points

  • PNP. Did not standout in a blind lineup of other South American Malbec and Cab-Malbec blends. Still too young,
though tannins were round. Character of Cabernet Sauvignon seemed muffled. Probably should have been decanted. Tasted more textural like Malbec than Cab though latter dominant in blend

  • Seductive blackberry jam, vanilla, marzipan, lavender and dark plum liqueur on the nose, with a subtle graphite edge. Full bodied and milky mouthfeel, concentrated but with a surprisingly balanced freshness, hints of herbal notes, mint, liquorice and bitter dark chocolate to the finish. Soft but grippy tannins feel nicely integrated already. Not quite profoundly complex, but oh so delicious. 95+

  • Color: Deep ruby. Nose: It is getting better while breathing. Cherries, berries, beet root. After a while there is eucalyptus. Mouth: Cassis. Excellent expressiveness. Fresh, lean and tight. Very good to excellent length. Tannins are very present and just a bit too noticeable at this stage. A bit of green paprika, too. Full bodied. The 13.5% alc. is extremely well hidden. It is developing while breathing. Now there is a creaminess to it. At the beginning of the drinking window. It has a very long life ahead.

  • Not what I was expecting, but then again, I don’t usually drink Argentinian wine or Malbec…

Super balanced is my main reaction. Very dark purple color. Robust structure. Present but not overpowering tannins. Fruit forward - dark fruit - but balanced perhaps some stone/flint. Nicely coats the mouth. Rich without being overpowering. Medium acidity.

    Very enjoyable.

  • Wine Guild Notes

61% Cab, 31% Malbec, 8% Cab Franc - this reminds us of high-end Cali Cab, blackberry syrup, dried fig, dusty green tannins and spices for days, mostly vanilla and cinnamon & mint. A big, full wine, very savory & seriously structured tannins. The real savory notes come after the first sip, the fruit is balanced and elegant, totally what you'd expect for the price. Could easily keep 20+ years.

    97 Suckling, 95 Decanter

Decanter: “The dominant cassis and eucalyptus Cabernet Sauvignon character translates into a clear austerity at this point and I suggest giving this a few more years to fully soften and let the purity of the fruit show its full impact. Deep inky colour, powerful tannins and a straight-line uplift from start to finish that speaks of the excellent levels of freshness even with this density of tannins. From ungrafted wines producing a tiny volume in this vintage after spring frosts, meaning there are extremely limited quantities through the Place. Unquestionably one of the great wines of Argentina, overseen by the talented Laura Catena.”
