  • Crumbly but moist cork - wine was fine.

Very strong burgundian nose of hay, manure, and mature fruit (if you like that sort of thing) that lasted for several hours.

Probably slightly past its' peak but still enjoyable. Vanilla, tobacco, and earthly notes on the flavor palate

    I have 2 more - I'd give it 12-18 months at most

  • The last bottle of this wine resident in my "Lost Cellar" this wine was initially quite rusty but deepened in the bottle to a deep cherry red after 3 hours with the bottle open in the cellar. The nose evolved in that time to reveal delicious notes of dark cherries, strawberry, rose, sous-bois and all-spice. The palate was medium weight with a lovely intense and complete character leading into a fine finish with plenty of poise. There was a lovely ball of fresh fruit at the centre of the palate made more complex by the features of maturity. These 96's seem timeless yet beautifully evolved. They all need time open or gently decanted to show their best.

  • Another lovely 96 Red Burgundy, this wine was initially quite rusty but appeared to deepen in the glass after 4 hours with the bottle open in the cellar. The nose evolved in that time to reveal delicious notes of tart cherries, strawberry, rose, earth and all-spice. The palate was medium weight with a lovely soft and complete character leading into a fine finish with plenty of poise. A last glass the next night after decanting to a 375ml bottle and sealing was still fresh and the fruit even more delineated. The mystery of Burgundy never ends !

  • This wine is seriously surprising. It is ripe, it has the slightly earthy aromas of a Nuits but it has clean fruit as well. Good acidity and depth go together with complexity. I guess this wine will still be good for the next 5 to 10 years.
