  Last of 12, opened 2 hours, stained cork but perfect level, previous notes to 2013 fine plus (93), now looking its age, and losing fruit flavours on nose, better on palate, revealing nuanced black fruit, some farmyard with the underlying drive, richness and distinction of a top vintage, well cellared bottles should be ok but I wouldn't hold much longer. F (17.5).

  Light ruby in the glass with a far funkier aroma than expected at the beginning, approaching barnyard. Similar acrylic / chalky paint notes to the 2000, but much softer and fading complexity. Curious perception of oak with black cherry, vanilla, and bourbon. This wine changed more than any of the other Les Vaucrains and after 90 minutes had blown off the farmyness and was a pleasant, rugged, burgundy. Be gentle and patient if you open one.

  Remarkable, opulent, seductive nose. Rich red fruit in the mouth with hint of spice. Lively and velvety but muscular. Finish is a bit sharp. Compelling wine that proves Chevillon's Vaucrains with 20+ years are consistently superb. FYI, needs 20-30 min to come awake.

  Bouteille en parfaite condition, le bouchon lui était friable. Pas décanté. Couleur griotte foncée. Nez de poussière, d'intérieur de chaussures. Après 10 minutes, nez de griotte mais retenu, pas exubérant. En bouche, des griottes, du cuir, très structuré. Puissant et long. Le vin s'est amélioré durant les 2 heures que nous l'avons bu.
  Le lendemain, le nez était plus pur bien que toujours discret. En bouche, le vin était plus fin, comme assagi.

  A beautiful inviting nose that comes at you and then draws you in. Supple and round for Nuits with some 90 plumpness and ripe fruit, but all framed in a structured, extremely well balanced frame. Rich and dense, but not heavy, and I could see how members of the anti 1990 crowd would not love this, but I find it poised, deep, balanced and drinking terribly well right now. Delicious. 93 pts
