Tasted by Margaux Bro on 6/27/2022 & rated 93 points: Served from a magnum. Color is slightly starting to brown but this is still exquisite and no noticeable signs of oxidations on the palate. I'd be a little more scared of a 750. Drink up. (630 views)
Tasted by Bwalter17 on 5/23/2022 & rated 90 points: Still good. (617 views)
Tasted by Margaux Bro on 1/18/2022 & rated 93 points: Consumed from a magnum. I have (had) 2 magnums of this and both of them had developed some concerning color. I was afraid they were out of life or oxidized. To my surprise, this was very much in a beautiful spot. Nice textbook tropical fruits and a smoothness that only comes with age. I'd be worried about 750s being any good at this point, but this magnum was a pleasant surprise. (798 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 11/11/2017 & rated 89 points: See prior notes - nicely paired with Baked Salmon and dill sauce (2383 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 10/23/2017 & rated 91 points: Golden in color. 14.1% ABV. Fantastic nose of stone fruits, green apples, grass and minerals. Medium body with acidity in spades. Pink grapefruit, mango and papaya on the palate. The finish is long and spicy. Always one of the best Sauvignon Blancs made in Napa Valley. Drink over the next 2-3 years. (2411 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 7/18/2017: Medium acidity, star bright with no hint of oak. Nice fruit - lemon zest, apricot and a decent finish. (2249 views)
Tasted by jsebiri on 5/9/2017: this was fine , faded away after being open for 1 day . nice fruits upon opening , no muscle , enjoyed (2297 views)
Tasted by Brentin on 8/15/2016 & rated 92 points: Mistake to add
Was not this variety I meant to add (2901 views)
Tasted by Wineson on 5/12/2016 & rated 90 points: Very enjoyable. Citrus. (1970 views)
Tasted by konadog on 4/5/2016 & rated 90 points: grassy with bright lemon zest flavors (1959 views)
Tasted by jhieb on 7/12/2015 & rated 91 points: Great tropical notes on the nose, and a nicely balanced acidity. (2530 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/24/2015 & rated 92 points: 37th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2010s (R&D's): Pale color with notes of citrus and grapefruit with hints of grass. Bright acidity with flavors of lemongrass and citrus. Nicely balanced with a good finish. (2805 views)
Tasted by RockinCabs on 5/9/2015 & rated 89 points: Nice grapefruit, lemon and slight mango notes. Good SB with a tropical edge. Obvious quality fruit, but does not have the depth of other Rutherford SB that I like. (1890 views)
Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 12/14/2014 & rated 88 points: Solid and lemony this was completely enjoyable. Very supple with mild but adequate acid and no apparent tannin (2025 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 12/13/2014 & rated 92 points: At our Christmas bash, magnum served to the non-Chardonnay drinkers.

Consistent with prior notes: light gold/greenish color, nose of lemongrass, citrus. Palate is crisp, more viscosity and body that most CA Sauvignon Blanc. Peach, lavender, melons/honeydew...I noticed the creamy finish on this bottle more than last.

Very nice SB - can argue value for price - but quite sophisticated (1895 views)
Tasted by stevegpg on 11/27/2014 & rated 92 points: Crisp, mellow. Nice floral nose, with Apple and pear flavors. (1285 views)
Tasted by MLR on 10/21/2014 & rated 93 points: What a wonderful SB. Meatier than most, and more akin to a Sancerre with some stealieness/gravel/minerality. (1413 views)
Tasted by dynedain on 10/3/2014 & rated 84 points: Strong peach and apricot nose. Nice body, tart finish. No minerality. (1380 views)
Tasted by BigRedKT on 9/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Favorite summer time wine. (1120 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 9/12/2014 & rated 93 points: Pre Napa Dinner at Chez Walker - Special Guests: Lindy Novak, Gary & Liz Fisch, Vasquez/Silverstein (Chez Walker - Princeton, NJ): From a magnum, third wine served with a tomato burrata and basil terrine as a first course. We were fortunate enough to have a special guest who knows this wine well.

Light gold color, nose of lemongrass, citrus and some SB earth/funk. Palate is crisp, more viscosity and body that most CA Sauvignon Blanc. Peach, lavender, melons/honeydew...sophisticated finish. Excellent wine for first course. (1851 views)
Tasted by smphelps on 9/5/2014 & rated 90 points: This seemed a little bolder than the January note would suggest. Still a very pale light gold, graceful, fragrant and elegant. The lemon, lime, citrus mid palate was brighter than recalled, and the finish was full and long. Still no sign of heat. Good food wine. (1134 views)
Tasted by BigRedKT on 8/31/2014 & rated 92 points: Perfect summer wine (891 views)
Tasted by winejow on 8/30/2014 & rated 84 points: Unremarkable. (1205 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 8/18/2014: Good Sauv Blanc, probably not worth the price. Nice nose of lemon, fresh cut grass, a hint of grapefruit. The palate is crisp and tasty. Very good, well made, but there are other Sauv Blancs as good for less. (906 views)
Tasted by stevegpg on 6/21/2014 & rated 93 points: Paired with sautéed scallops, corn salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing. Great grassy favors, also citrus and peach. (1189 views)

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
