Tasted by coremill on 3/31/2024 & rated 91 points: Surprisingly deep golden color, but not oxidized. Effusive aromas of lemon oil, stone, pine, and a slight aged oxidative patina. Good palate density, structured as much by its mineral bite as by its acidity, with very good length. Wonderful with soft-shell crab. This bottle is delicious and I think fully mature. (281 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 2/6/2024: Drinking very well, including a last glass that had been in the fridge for weeks. (454 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 12/26/2023: Tasted over 3 hrs -translucent med gold -wet stone honeyed floral citrus wool -med+ acidity, med/med- weight with a surprising viscosity and super intense sappy mineral -lively complex brilliant, showing some maturity but far from tired, showing why this is one of (maybe the) greatest wine <$20 (438 views)
| Tasted by SteveK52 on 5/17/2023 & rated 92 points: As the reviewer below noted, we've had older Briords that tasted younger. As oxygen intruded, this Briords progressed from interesting to insanely, savagely drinkable. I didn't find the typical salinity I associate with Muscadet, but rich aromas of fruit and flower more than compensated. My only bottle, and if I had another I'd drink it sooner than later. | Tasted by Putnam Weekley on 5/17/2023 & rated 94 points: I've had older Briords that tasted younger. (Curiously this item exemplifies a maturation pattern similar to one I noticed in 2012 Simone—of all things.) Brittle banana peel leather; waxy seed resins; a beckoning core of radiant, solar fruit. It's like a package of botanical defense that contains a proportional embarrassment of palate nutrient. Small sips at nearly room temperature, as one commenter noted, that's where the needle fits into the groove. Also, it improved with air; the last five ounces in the bottle, kept over night, made the tastiest pour. Green floral musk. Cured lemon peel. Very long, gravel, salt, and sour steel finish. I used to be able to find Cote de Beaune that acted like this. (1159 views) |
Tasted by DC202 on 11/29/2022 flawed bottle: Much like Dr. Jura’s comment’s below, mine was corked. Gotta love sitting on a wine for 9 years and it’s all for nothing. (1440 views)
Tasted by Professor_Budge on 4/18/2022 & rated 92 points: A bit more advanced than I thought. Gold color. Citrus peel, bruised apples that open up to yellow orchard fruit with air. Chalky minerality with waxy mouthfeel. Briny, savory high acid finish. (2262 views)
Tasted by Enfant sauvage on 1/21/2022: My favorite vintage of Briords from the 2010s. (2637 views)
Tasted by fitzi on 11/25/2021: Today I give thanks that, among other things, the bottle of this I opened last night was in fine fettle, and, if anything, IMHO, could comfortably be held for several years yet. Best at cool room temperature (so warm-ish for a white) and taken in small sips, when the brothy salinity of this cuvee showed to best advantage in this bottle. (2218 views)
Tasted by TheBusiness724 on 9/2/2021 flawed bottle: Corked. Shit! (3030 views)
Tasted by scottes on 7/1/2021 & rated 50 points: Undrinkable. Probably corked. I have another bottle which I’ll try and report back. (2478 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 11/24/2020: Previous bottles had been only good and seemed too advanced, but this bottle was a different story. Excellent acidity and minerality. Perfect for sous vide cod filet with lemon and capers. (2711 views)
Tasted by slanum on 11/21/2020: The wine in this bottle looks, smells, and tastes astonishingly like aged Chablis, and the good stuff at that. It's quite developed, no longer the live electric wire it was on release. First sniff quite literally provoked me to do a double-take. I've never experienced a Briords, or any Muscadet, that aged this way. Surprising, to say the least, but certainly in a good way. (2393 views)
Tasted by xwine on 7/7/2020: This is in a great place right now. A lot of crisp apple on the nose, which is not something I normally find in young Briords. Still lively and penetrating, but now with added complexity and texture. It will be hard not to open my last bottle soon. (3054 views)
Tasted by rsbeck on 7/5/2020 & rated 93 points: Last bottle. Continues to evolve and drinks extremely well. What a lovely vintage for Briords. Wish I had more. I suspect well kept bottles will continue to cruise in the cellar. (3006 views)
Tasted by Seth Rosenberg on 6/25/2020 & rated 95 points: Tasted double blind. This is really potent in the nose: chalky and grassy, golden fruit, lemonheads, waxy, wood, shells. Really delicious on the palate - it is savory, waxy, full of flavor. Great depth and balance. Long savory finish. This clearly isn't a wine category that I have on a regular basis and I'm wondering why not. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20. (3388 views)

Tasted by rsbeck on 12/1/2019 & rated 93 points: Popped, poured, consumed over next 90 minutes. Firing on all cylinders. Great vintage Briords, continues to develop nicely. (2888 views)
Tasted by bags on 9/16/2019: preposterously good. (2703 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 7/18/2019: Wellfleet. Two bottles, did not seem as advanced as past bottles but I;ll still look to drink these sooner. (2841 views)
Tasted by Riccardo Malocchio on 7/1/2019 flawed bottle: Like CWEISS, the prior 3 bottles I've drunk over the past six months have been more advanced than anticipated and starting to oxidize. Last night's, however, was severely premoxed and ended up down the drain. Three bottles left out of 2 cases, and drinking up. Earlier drunk bottles were quite good, and this is a vintage I really liked. 7/17: less advanced than 7/1 bottle, but with obvious oxidative note (3246 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 6/17/2019: Another bottle that is surprisingly advanced though not oxidized. It appears these need to be drunk up. (2166 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 6/8/2019: Tasted over 3 hrs -translucent bright med gold with faint green -sharp -med+ acidity on a mineral edge, med- weight somewhat floral with orchard fruit faint lanolin, sappy residue persists on long finish -quite a bit of intensity drinking well now (2072 views)
Tasted by slanum on 4/8/2019: Lemony aromas with underlying notes that brought the descriptor 'beach-like' immediately to mind -- sea air and hot sand. Arresting, intense, and powerful flavors of citrus and ripe white fruit. 1er Cru Chablis-like acidity and length. What a fine vintage of this. (2399 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 2/16/2019: Beautifully intense with gentle stone and mineral and an emerging ripe pear element. (2327 views)
