Community Tasting Notes (average 89.7 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by CarpeVinoDiem on 7/20/2012 & rated 90 points: No notes.
Decanted 1 hr. Good cork with slight micro sediment.

Solid and delicous, as always.

Drink now or revisit in a couple yrs.

While not the weight of a Biale Monte Rosso vineyard, still classy Zin that everyone liked.

90 pts. (2010 views)
Tasted by jfrederick on 3/15/2012 & rated 90 points: Still a solid wine. Has a little sweetness that puts me in agreement with others that this might do best on its own. It got better and better over a four hour drinking window. (2178 views)
Tasted by CarpeVinoDiem on 1/31/2012 & rated 90 points: One for DM.
90 pts in the past.
Solid, still nice fruit and not hot.
By itself or with food. (2022 views)
Tasted by Appreciative on 3/23/2011: What a lovely mature Old Vine Zin! The wine has truly stayed in balance with no off flavors or harsh finish. A friend couldn't believe how much enjoyment I got out of it. He prefered a younger and more fruit forward '03 Zin from CA. (2215 views)
Tasted by vanpe003 on 11/24/2007 & rated 90 points: FBM buy. Nice btl of Zin. Thick, syrupy with noticeable sweetness. Best on its own or as an appertif. A bit difficult as a food wine. (2499 views)
Tasted by gotwine? on 6/7/2006 & rated 89 points: This was the last of 12 bttls and the best one. (1389 views)
Tasted by otisabdul on 9/3/2004 & rated 89 points: Sampled at a blind tasting of seven zins. This Washington zin more than held its own against the Cali establishment. Cassis and turpentine on the nose. Raspberry jelly fruit. The group thought this had the best finish out of all the wines. I purchased this for $32. One 1st place vote. My #4. (1750 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
