Tasted by Wineshington on 11/2/2021 & rated 91 points: Mature but enjoyable. Still has some fruit, but nicely aged and paired well with a lamb dish. (1072 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 7/29/2020 & rated 92 points: WIML92

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Dark garnet color in the glass, a little dusty looking towards center. Nose of asphalt, pepper, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of dried plums, black cherries and black berries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink now. (1507 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 2/2/2019: From magnum. Tightly coiled upon opening, but reveals her charms about an hour into dinner. Color and bouquet are still spot on, although starting to fall apart on the palate and the finish. More spice than fruit right now, with shades of plum and ripe blackberry overtaken by burnt cedar, thyme, pine needle and brambles. Drink now. (1885 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 3/11/2017 & rated 92 points: Dinner @ Home (Fremont, CA): Pale-medium ruby with minimal bricking; nose is aromatic with high-toned red fruits, pomegranate, slightly smoky and minerality, fleshes out with more black fruits with air; palate is full bodied, good concentration of black fruits, medium acid, medium-plus balanced alcohol (seems less than 16.1% listed on the bottle), some black pepper spice; medium to medium-plus finish. A very nice Turley with excellent density and concentration on the palate, which is a real strength without showing its alcohol. Ready now. 91-93 (3359 views)
Tasted by tk.parsons@comcast.net on 1/14/2017 & rated 90 points: The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and fig. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity. (2845 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 7/9/2016 & rated 91 points: Dinner at Home (Fremont, CA): Medium clear ruby with minimal bricking; nose is highly aromatic, high toned red fruit including cranberry, pomegranate, some heat; palate is medium bodied, medium acid, high alcohol (16.1%), plenty of remaining red fruit; medium finish. This is unique (definitely not your standard Zinfandel) but holds its alcohol well and has plenty of good fruit. Very nice Turley! 91 (3366 views)
Tasted by Donjcorleone on 6/4/2016 & rated 89 points: Let me just start by saying that my preference is for youthful zins so I am kind of kicking myself for losing track of this one. This offers up a ripe nose of pomegranate and plums that was slightly stewed along with pepper notes that lead way to a high octane, full bodied palate that tastes of cherry, anise, cedar and spice. A zin that has held up better than I would have expected. (2883 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 12/25/2015: From magnum, served at the annual Boeuf Bourguignon Christmas Eve dinner. My oh my! The almost full decade in the bottle has served this well. Silky smooth, yet still full bodied, and with the fruit dialed back, allowing this to shine with the main course. Blackberries, blueberries, dried apricots, cedar and wet pavement that folds into a very satisfying finish. Likely better with food than served alone, at this stage of its development. Even considering that it slept in a magnum, this offering again argues for the age ability of Turley wines. A Christmas Eve tradition. (2893 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 7/31/2015 & rated 88 points: Dinner @ home; 7/20/2015-7/31/2015 (Fremont, CA): Ruby color; nose has some pomegranate, high alcohol; full body, high alcohol, fruit, a bit unbalanced; medium finish. It's not holding its alcohol as well as last time. Drink soon. 88 (2238 views)
Tasted by mojotojo on 2/20/2015 & rated 92 points: Another delicious Turley Zin. Ripe and opulent, but beginning to show its age. Slight copper tinge to edge. A rich, nostril-filling nose loaded with black fruit, spices (Asian 5-spicey) pepper and a distinctive minerality. Raspberry and black cherry flavors still clinging on. Drink up, people, it's as good as its going to get. (2370 views)
Tasted by Mlermontov on 1/17/2015 & rated 92 points: Big Wines Night - or how a Riesling stole the show?: latex note of the top, but it blew off to reveal red berry and herbs black currant jam and ripe southern rhone mid. touch of raisin and black pepper. balanced even at its 16.1% good acidity in the back palatte and a hint of tannin. Perfect now. (2463 views)
Tasted by GregBates on 12/1/2014 & rated 90 points: Went well with the Thanksgiving melange of food.
Still balanced with tasty fruits and Zinfandel spice and acid with gentle tannins (1963 views)
Tasted by Snacks2013 on 7/12/2014 & rated 91 points: still plenty of life left in this. Dark ruby color great legs on the glass still powerful. Decanted for 2 hours consumed over 1 hour, taste of dark stone fruits with hints of black pepper silky smooth with a long finish. (2270 views)
Tasted by bjamesclark on 4/5/2014 & rated 91 points: Dark ruby core that is moderately hazy fades to a lighter ruby then thick watery rim. high viscosity leaves thick legs trailing down the glass slowly after taking minutes to form. Day bright reflections and moderate+ concentration.
After allowing to decant aromas evolve and blossom to show strawberry rhubarb pie, wild raspberry preserves, bramble, ground pink peppercorns, roses, sandalwood and exotic spices that lean on ground cinnamon and garam masala with lighter touches of earth and smoked meat.
On the palate almost delicate flavors of roses, fresh baked strawberry rhubarb pie, stewed plum, pink peppercorn and indian spices, cinnamon, wood/bramble and hints of smoke and old leather. The acidity and dusty tannins are both moderate, and the finish lingers pleasantly on notes of cooked strawberry with flowers and spice at moderate intensity.
Overall holding up very well, still requires a decent decant and a well put together elegant feminine wine (2359 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 2/4/2014 & rated 92 points: Opaque purple in color. A bruiser at 16.1% ABV. Red fruits, plums and pepper on the nose. Jammy, sweet and almost port like. Full bodied with enough acidity. Strawberries, raspberries, white pepper and licorice on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long. Drink over the next year or so. (2386 views)
Tasted by mfriedman12 on 2/2/2014 & rated 93 points: Sensational. Turley is just so consistent making refined, elegant Zins. This had a plummy nose and lots of ripe strawberries and spice box. Mid level tannins. Pulled out of the cellar and it was still a bit too cold when we opened it, but became more dynamic and less juicey as it neared room temp. Unfortunately we guzzled it down before it likely hit its peak temp. (2060 views)
Tasted by mattdathan on 10/2/2013 & rated 92 points: Lovely & smooth. Tannins have become silky and it has firm body and a long finish. This is coming towards the end of it's life, though, so needs drinking in the next 12-18 months (at most). (2491 views)
Tasted by ey1294 on 7/29/2013 flawed bottle: Corked, nothing ruins a great night like a corked bottle of potentially good wine. (2217 views)
Tasted by puppetclause on 7/12/2013: Pomegranate, prune, a bit stemmy. Was boring until about 2 hours in, then rode the pomegranate pretty nicely. was heading twords a very nice last glass until I involuntarily knocked it over and shattered it. (2150 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 5/19/2013 & rated 93 points: RASPBERRIES AND CHERRIES IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH. (800 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 5/14/2013 & rated 91 points: Dense/deep ruby color; nose of chewy black fruits, white pepper, slight smoky; palate is full bodied and concentrated, slightly hot in the midpalate but good acid that gives it freshness and distinct character, some nonspecific dark/black fruits; finish has medium persistence. Quite a good Turley zin with character, decent EtOH balance, great freshness/acid, could perhaps use a bit more fruit concentration on the palate. Drinking well now and very enjoyable, but seems like it has a few years to last. 91
Update: With a little bit of air, seems like the pomegranate has started to come out a bit on the nose and palate, which is classic Turley for me. (2202 views)
Tasted by Rhone Rick on 5/12/2013 & rated 93 points: Over the top tobacco and spice box in a smooth velvet package. Would not realize it was 16% alcohol. Silky jammy and super smoke-spicy with core acidity still intact, BBQ pairing perfection. (2133 views)
Tasted by Texasgi00 on 5/4/2013 & rated 90 points: Spicey with a peppery in the mouth bit, very smooth and velvety. (1900 views)
Tasted by jwalker1140 on 4/14/2013 & rated 92 points: Still going strong. (1521 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
