Tasted by Rixon on 4/21/2024 & rated 91 points: Tät, mörk röd färg. (38 views)
Tasted by Alfaro on 10/29/2023 & rated 94 points: These bottles were in a perfectly happy drinking window! Loved every drop! (286 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 10/31/2020 & rated 92 points: From magnum. Popped, decanted and poured. Aromas of dill, blackberry, dusty berry, currant and hint of iron. Flavors of blackberry, currant, black cherry, dash of cocoa and hint of iron. Ends with a nice finish of 20-25 seconds with black cherry notes. Reading the other notes I expected something far more mature but this was tasting relatively young for it's age because it was from magnum. Still had some really nice fruit. (1712 views)
Tasted by GRoz on 10/10/2020 & rated 90 points: Wine has taken on tea/leathery notes. Fruit and tannins have taken a backseat. Is drinking really well and paired nicely with roasted miso-soy glazed cod. (1640 views)
Tasted by mfarber on 2/8/2020 & rated 90 points: Decanted 3 hours. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, molasses and black olive. It tastes like blackberry, bramble, red currant, vanilla, bark, game and raisin. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. (2110 views)
Tasted by up4wine on 1/8/2019 & rated 91 points: Excellent, round fruit. Oak barrel has integrated well and is calm. This makes the wine easy to drink, while still being a good match to grilled meats. Price to quality is outstanding on this wine. (3229 views)
Tasted by Gfletch on 6/30/2018 & rated 94 points: This is so smooth. A hint of Smokey pepper front but finishes very smooth. Awesome legs. Highly recommend. (4391 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 5/16/2018 & rated 88 points: Not sure about what I read on CT. This is a remarkable sub $30 CAbernet.

Had with Michael Honig at CBCC. Stared with Honig Sauvignon Blanc 2017 Napa Valley, next was Honig Sauvingnon Blanc 2016 Rutherford, then Honig Cabernet 2015, then Honig 2007 Cabernet Sauvingnon, then Bertolucci Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, then Honig Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 and finally Honig late harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Mellow and lacking fruit but balanced and long in the finish. Starts with restrained blackberry fruit, some brief asphalt on the front end which brought interest, and balanced acidity and tannins. A good wine but not more than that. (3731 views)
Tasted by hoops92 on 10/11/2017 & rated 90 points: Significantly better than previous bottle. Strong flavor profile, not flabby. Near end of drinking window, however. (5153 views)
Tasted by hoops92 on 8/16/2017 & rated 88 points: Decent wine, but a big disappointing at this price point. There's a lot better wine out there in this price range. No real depth of flavor with tannins now dominant. Surprised not more fruit since its been at 55 degrees since purchase. I'm probably being generous on the score. Unless the other bottles are significantly better, this is definitely at the end of its life. (5192 views)
Tasted by funk74 on 2/14/2017 & rated 90 points: After and hour of decanting it was had the taste of black currants. Not dense. (5986 views)
Tasted by Alfaro on 1/3/2017 & rated 92 points: So interesting, this wine had a leaky cork same as the one I drank in 2014, however no harm done to the wine since it laid on it's side undisturbed in the cellar. It has evolved and become balanced, almost more luscious in east, popped & poured, drank over two hours. (4955 views)
Tasted by VAD on 12/11/2016 & rated 93 points: This wine was excellent. Pop and pour. So smooth and great balance. nice long finish. (4850 views)
Tasted by aecklund on 9/4/2016 & rated 93 points: We opened the bottle a few hours before pouring, but did not decant it. It was great from the start. Dark ruby color, very well balanced texture, nice hint of minerals and spice with a long finish. Ready to drink now. (4732 views)
Tasted by VAD on 6/11/2016 & rated 91 points: Nice dark ruby color. Nice fruit. Drinking well. Smooth and great balance. (4017 views)
Tasted by CieloVista on 2/5/2016 & rated 90 points: Dark ruby red; strong aromas of cherries, currants, earth with some floral and oak coming through. Full bodied, rich tannins, very smooth; dark fruit flavors with a little tea bitterness coming through. (4270 views)
Tasted by knlowery on 1/19/2016 & rated 91 points: Full bodied, fruit forward. Drinking very nicely. (4198 views)
Tasted by Ceo on 1/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Better with age!! (4075 views)
Tasted by bryceandrachel on 8/17/2015 & rated 92 points: Really great and a hit with friends who were over for steak dinner. I haven't had a wine like this in a while, and it was delicious. Dark cherry, chocolate, and herbs (sage was mentioned). (4020 views)
Tasted by up4wine on 3/12/2015 & rated 85 points: This bottle was either way past its drinking window or was flawed due to poor storage in an earlier part of its life. Previous bottles were quite good and I will see what the last bottle is like one of the days. The nose and palate showed what I describe "stewed prunes", which I associate with being cooked through storage at high temperatures. I have had the wine in well controlled conditions since end of 2010, so it must have happened early. Nevertheless, a few tasters in the monthly wine series determined it to be in their top 3 of the 8 Cabs on the panel. This was because there is still underlying evidence of an excellent fruit backbone in this wine. (3832 views)
Tasted by MemorialWineFan on 2/16/2015 & rated 89 points: Inky...and good. (3479 views)
Tasted by SMagowan on 10/31/2014 & rated 93 points: Showing better and better this is really a lovely California Cab at a value price. Consistent with prior notes and now better integrated. I think this has legs to live to 2020 or maybe later. The fruit is very prominent and there is a nice latent vanilla coating that follows the wine past the tongue. A 20 - 30 second finish is the reward. Very nice. (4337 views)
Tasted by norsktorsk on 10/4/2014 & rated 92 points: Drinking great right now. (4333 views)
Tasted by wdlohr on 8/30/2014 & rated 92 points: rich and full with soft shades of plush, deep and balanced finish. Soulful (4090 views)
Tasted by Wine Lover 1964 on 8/22/2014 & rated 91 points: very nice wine but sure it will get much better than it is right now. (3494 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
