Tasted by Entick on 8/15/2015 & rated 82 points: Dusty and dry. Any fruit left the building a while ago. Not good and will only get worse. Disappointing. (5980 views)
Tasted by Rickyd007 on 6/11/2011 & rated 84 points: Nose is absent, lots of deposit.
Light cherry color.
Taste very fruity, well balance, will not benefit much from more aging. Indeed, still very pleasant to drink. (9420 views)
Tasted by TAE on 12/28/2010: Smagning Rasmus (9688 views)
Tasted by jkoenen on 7/9/2010 & rated 82 points: Fonseca Offline @ Joost B.'s (Netherlands): Dusty, mouldy nose dominated by oak, on the palate quite aggressive and drying on the finish. Lacking stuffing and sweetness. Not good. 13.5/20 (9354 views)
Tasted by losvinhos on 12/12/2007 & rated 88 points: C.B.V.P. (9291 views)
Tasted by kevin h on 9/3/2006 & rated 87 points: Not bad for a port from a poor vintage. Decent red colour, no real signs of age. The nose is subdued after 8 hours in the decanter with spices, dried fruits, and fruit cake. To taste, soft, figgy, a little short and not particularly sweet , indeed a rather dry port. A bit dusty perhaps? A modest drink but not a bad one. Additional Note: still drinking well 3 days later - flavour has a bit of liquorice to it now. (5540 views)
Tasted by king-bing on 12/25/2005 & rated 85 points: Not showing a lot of ageing. Fairly good. A little hot, and too sweet for me, but good depth of flavour. (4510 views)
Tasted by Highmountain on 11/20/2005 & rated 90 points: Kraftig och stram, mycket mogen och ej så söt sliskig som en del port kan vara. (3308 views)
Tasted by futronic on 10/1/2004 & rated 87 points: Dark garnet colour. Aromas of raisins, red fruits. Sweet red fruits on the palate; also showing notes of cinnamon and spice. Nice finish, ~30-35s with celery salt. Drink now. (2413 views)
Tasted by Double-A on 11/5/2002: Licorice, cassis, black cherry, mineral and smoke nose. Full, spicy and warm with rounding flavours and a long, spicy finish. (278 views)
Tasted by Double-A on 11/23/1999: Raisins, chocolate, tar, smoke and spice nose. Full-bodied and smooth, but still with some un-resolved tannin. Long finish. (320 views)

Port Blend

Over a hundred varieties of grapes (castas) are sanctioned for port production, although only five (Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional) are widely cultivated and used.
- Mayson (1999), Port and the Douro, p. 93

Guimaraens Vintage

In years when Fonseca does not ‘declare’ a classic vintage, it selects the finest grapes from its own vineyards to yield a small quantity of this superb wine, which is produced exactly as a declared Fonseca Vintage. Beautifully structured and perfectly balanced, Guimaraens Vintage Ports show Fonseca’s superb marriage of power and breed in a slightly lighter, earlier-maturing style.
