| Community Tasting Notes (average 94.6 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by GianniFioriti on 6/18/2022 & rated 97 points: OMG. 12 years old now. Lemony citrous notes. Yello buttercup flowers. Pale yellow look. Some notes of kerosene, yum. Taste is bit buttery, old soft lemon, a bit chewy as if had some tannins. Med to full body. Some acid that adds brightness. As it warms, all aromas and tasting notes become more pronounced. Could still cellar some more. (297 views) | | Tasted by Bouddi26 on 2/11/2022 & rated 95 points: Medium yellow colour. Clean citrus fruit nose. Soft and round with a smooth savoury mouthfeel. Not a typical semillon feel but lovely full body with an intense and long citrus finish. With 11 years under the belt I think this wine has plenty of years to go. (306 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 9/10/2017: {screwcap, 11.5%} Still very pale straw even after seven years, the aromas are somewhat developed, with slightly browning straw aromas, with a hint of toast and lime. The palate is vivid, the flavours a mix of lime, grass, flowers, and a nod to a slatey riesling. Has a sandy quality to the texture, with vivid medium acid still lively; the wine medium-bodied, cool in character without much alcohol. Still evolving; somehow still seems a bit simple, but could age longer with some confidence. Decently medium-length finish. Yes, this will go a while longer. (967 views) | | Tasted by chatters on 5/10/2017: Supper at Jen's (Jen's, Erskineville): More citric than orchard. Initially this was closed and a bit flat - especially next to the 2011, but after about 30-45 minutes it began to show a lot better with plenty of blossom and honeysuckle. Fresh and balance. Quite good. (1270 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 3/10/2015: {screwcap, 11.5%} Pale yellow. Intense nose, slightly developing, of limes, grass, straw, honey. Attractive. The palate is light/medium-bodied, very persistent, crunchily dry and lasered with acidity. Tastes like the nose. Structurally much younger than its rich, ripe flavours. Ought to age for many years yet. Very good indeed. (1418 views) | | Tasted by Bouddi26 on 2/28/2015 & rated 93 points: Pale straw colour. Strong citrus nose. Tight lemon palate with big acid finish. Doesn't show its age and probably has a long life. Almost too young to open (maybe it's in its teenage years!). (1178 views) | | Tasted by mattwoolley on 6/26/2011 & rated 94 points: Great now but with so much potential. Lime, grass, candle wax, hints of apple and peach, kaffir lime. Intense fruit purity, lime with lemon, minerality, touch of honey, grassy finish, searing acidity balances the fruit power; length to burn. (2131 views) | | Tasted by Patrick - winereviewer.com.au on 5/5/2011 & rated 94 points: The wine is a very light yellow in colour, with citrus , a hint of honey, and understated melon on the nose.
The palate has great textural elements that start with soft lime fruits that build in concentration and gain vibrant acidity as the wine progresses from the front to back palate.
The finish has excellent concentration and is still dominated by citrus fruits but will undoubtedly develop in character and complexity as it ages Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink by 2020) (725 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 2/18/2011: 2011 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting (Olympic Park, Homebush): Bronze medal {screwcap, 11.5%} Wrongly thinking I tasted the 2009 back in January, I fell upon this; how the memory fools us. So a month later; bright straw and grass aromas waft from the near-colourless wine. With light-medium body, and quite high acidity, the grassy flavours are quite taut on the palate, but still cover the tongue quite evenly, and culminate in a clean, piercing finish. Good effort. (2533 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 1/15/2011: Hunter Valley - 7 Cellar Doors (Pokolbin): {screwcap, 11.5%, A$29} Very young & fresh nose of lemon, grass and green apple. Not at all austere. On the palate the acid positively zips through the lemony fruit, leading to great coverage of the tongue by all parts of the wine. It combines a light-medium body with a long clean and dry finish in that classic Hunter way. Still relatively rich, but ought to drink well for ten years. (2401 views) |
