Good value at $15. (1831 views) | | Tasted by J2K on 11/6/2013: I've enjoyed the Novy Gary's Vineyard Syrah before so I wanted to try this one. It did not disappoint. Full and rich mouthfeel. Ripe dark fruit, plum, with some of meat, iron and touch of vanilla sweetness. Sometimes tasting like a Northern Rhone. Not overly complex but a very good Syrah for $15 in PA, just give it some time to breathe. It held up strong on day 2 also. I'm buying more. (1755 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 10/26/2013 & rated 88 points: Siduri & Novy Tasting (Santa Rosa, CA): Dark purple color. Aromas of blackberries, smoke, mocha and spice rub. Grippy, mouthpuckering tannins, but some medium acid. The concentrated black cherry is blended with notes of vanilla, smoke, bacon fat and black pepper. Dense and age-worthy, and an easy decision at $20. (2361 views) | | Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 4/8/2013 & rated 90 points: Siduri/Novy at the Dallas Zoo (The Dallas Zoo, Giants of the Savannah Exhibit): Pretty much opaque dark garnet in the glass. Like a more refined sibling to the Page Nord bottling. Ripe smelling dark fruit on the nose with a touch of new leather. Medium-full bodied with supple texture. Good. Pretty good value. Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
