Tasted by ShaneTierney on 10/23/2021 & rated 94 points: Decanted 48 hours. Tasted blind alongside '16 & '17 Cockburn VP, '16 & '17 Dow VP, and '17 Taylor's VP. Each one could probably be a point higher because the palate got blasted.
Great fruit and a long beautiful finish. Gorgeous mouth-feel, best of the night alongside the 17 Dow's. More initial fruit than the 2017 Taylor, but not nearly as bold and powerful, and maybe slightly less balance than either Dow's.
Really young but beautiful. (6316 views)
Tasted by berlinhotel on 4/30/2021 & rated 97 points: one week tasting of Taylor´s Vintage Port vertical 2016-2017-2018

at the moment the most drinkable of these three, very fruity

Tasted by bowesmana on 3/19/2021: Just opened and will taste over the next few days.

Almost nothing on the nose after opening. Dark ruby and not much sediment yet in the bottle. Straight away, the fruit is up front and there is not a lot else. No secondary flavours and no finish to speak of. (5913 views)
 Tasted by berlinhotel on 1/15/2021 & rated 96 points: 96+ (5961 views)
Tasted by Lemari on 10/23/2020 & rated 91 points: Tasted NB. Too soon to drink this vintage, but opened a 375 to establish a first taste marker. Deep garnet color with exceptional tannin quality and fruit concentration that's already well refined. Should continue to elegantly evolve for a couple decades. (6664 views)
Tasted by KPB on 1/19/2020 & rated 96 points: Very famous right now because of the RMP review and 100pt score. But I've got it open side by side with the 2011 and even factoring in the age difference, I think the 2011 is the more exciting vintage. The 2016 is a bit unbalanced: the fruit a bit too intense, the tannins a bit too fierce, the whole story a bit too assertive. I get a whiff of linseed oil on the nose after a day open... A great Taylor VP, no doubt about it, but I think that history will end up recognizing that the 2011 is the better bottle.

I'll score this 96 today (I'm giving the 2011 98). Down the road, I see 2011 being a 100pt bottle by 2025-2030. I think this one will actually peak in that same timeframe but I don't see it pushing to more than a 98pt score even at peak. That slight sense of imbalance will ultimately dominate, in my opinion (I drink a lot of VP, but I don't know how much my opinion should be trusted, because most of what I own is much older and I don't do a ton of tasting of VP immediately on release).  Tasted by phandel on 11/28/2019 & rated 94 points: So wonderful! Excellent structure, tannic depth, and wonderful fruit. Very enjoyable now! (4951 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 10/8/2019 & rated 92 points: Bubbles and Holiday Wine, nose of plum, rich fruit, same on the palate, young, needs 5 years, tasty, almost very tasty, touch simple, medium/long finish, give it time and patience will be rewarded. (5423 views)
Tasted by maaike2 on 6/29/2019 & rated 90 points: Completely closed. Just fruit, also after 2 days. I am not convinced that the very enthusiastic reports about this port will be confirmed in future, but I am curious!! Tonight not fair to compare with the Fonseca Vintage 1985 and Fonseca Guimaraens 1995 which were both superb. (5745 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 5/4/2019 & rated 90 points: Dark red; somewhat mute nose; not that sweet, not that much fruit; quite broad, currently not that exciting, (5366 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 3/29/2019 & rated 93 points: Dark, but not as black as I would have thought, given its youth. Lovely nose of plums, licorice and violets. Very tannic, although buffered well by the fruit. I enjoyed this quite a bit, but it obviously needs some cellar time. (4812 views)
Tasted by berlinhotel on 2/15/2019 & rated 96 points: tasted over 3 days, decanted for 12 hours, very good, my wife prefered this one over the also tasted Dow 2016 VP, could be 99 in a quarter of a century!

96-97++ (4338 views)
Tasted by dpolivy on 1/11/2019: Vindredi (2016 Ports + California Cabernet) (Bellevue, WA): Lots of structure at the moment, with both tannin and acid coming across prominently. Nice fruit overall, and seems like this will age well. (5257 views)
Tasted by canan on 12/28/2018 & rated 97 points: Champagne Brunch (@Terkel): Huge amount of cherry fruit. Huge acidity and amazing balance. Beautiful wine! (2717 views)
Tasted by Keith Cooper on 5/25/2018 & rated 95 points: Tasted at The Wine Society's London Wine Fair. The tasting offered the opportunity to try early bottlings of Croft, Fonseca and Taylor, 2016 vintage. The Taylor was my favourite of the three, probably because it is the most approachable now. It must surely have a long life ahead, but I'd be more than happy to drink a bottle of it now. Dark ruby colour, subtle blackcurrant nose, soft palate and good length. Excellent. (6429 views)

Taylor (Fladgate)

Producer Website

Taylor's vintage ports are renowned for their massive structure, concentration of flavour and distinctively masculine style. Taylor's Port is also renowned for being amongst the longest lived of all ports.

Robert Parker: "This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades."

Port Blend

Over a hundred varieties of grapes (castas) are sanctioned for port production, although only five (Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional) are widely cultivated and used.
