Tasted by fishracer on 3/8/2015 & rated 86 points: Past its prime. Thin. No tannins. (2861 views)
Tasted by dontime on 4/5/2014: Last chance purchase at the state monopoly store. No telling how it had been stored. Undrinkable. Fizzy, thin, lacking structure or much taste. Would have been better off tossing a $20 bill off a bridge and making a wish. If scoring <70. (3473 views)
Tasted by Dybdal Inc. on 4/3/2012 & rated 87 points: Looks like it is soon to be last chance to get something good out of the Torbreck Cuveé Juveniles. Have tasted it a couple of years ago with more power and longer finish. It still gives a good light/medium body experience which is nice too drink (in the wine cellar) without food. The difference to me would have been if the finish lasted longer than 10 sec. and therefore I can´t give it a higher rating (remembered it as a 89-90 points at its top). (4906 views)
Tasted by roger8679 on 2/3/2012: no tannins. fruity raspberry and chocolate. (4920 views)
Tasted by ronaldo on 11/1/2011 & rated 86 points: light berry on the nose, plum or currant, very light on everything. rather disappointing. (5239 views)
Tasted by ACS Driffield on 10/24/2011: Enjoyed this more than some below - quite modern in style, certainly, but not overblown or overly fruity/jammy. Nice on an autumnal evening. (3253 views)
Tasted by Koluda on 10/23/2011 & rated 90 points: Very rich on the nose. Black currant, almonds(?), plum. (2455 views)
Tasted by katwell on 8/15/2011 & rated 79 points: Not liking this at all; jam on the nose, and ... Cherry Coke on the palate. Sweet-tasting, maybe a bad bottle. (1973 views)
Tasted by Rugtved on 7/24/2011 & rated 88 points: Used to like this better, maybe an off bottle. (2011 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 3/10/2011 & rated 80 points: Aussie Manischevitz!! Not at all like what I tasted last year. Did they have a ringer at the tasting? (2102 views)
Tasted by Mmark on 1/21/2011 & rated 85 points: Ruby colour. A nose of plum in Madeira, port wine, and fruits. In the mouth it is pure port wine with extreme fruits. Nothing to balance.. (2426 views)
Tasted by GUTuna on 12/27/2010 & rated 88 points: Great QPR from an always solid producer (2470 views)
Tasted by DRod on 12/4/2010 & rated 86 points: fairly translucent in glass, ruby red w purplish hue. jammy nose of blueberry, raspberry. palate of welch's grape jelly. noticeable heat, especially on the finish. solid but unremarkable. crowd pleaser. (2485 views)
Tasted by troutmonster on 12/4/2010 & rated 87 points: Lighter, grenache dominated color. strawberry and rasperry preserves with white pepper on the nose. Palate is very sweet, ripe red fruit up front, with pepper and alcohol coming thru on the mid palate. Over ripe but undeniably delicious (2620 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 7/23/2010 & rated 87 points: Torbreck Tasting (Wine Club, Santa Clara, California): Medium dark red violet color; wild berry, satsuma plum, wild cherry nose; ripe red fruit, satsuma plum, red berry, tangy black fruit palate; medium finish (60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre; stainless steel fermented and aged) (2732 views)
Tasted by nogohawk on 6/21/2010 & rated 88 points: VG blend - same notes as before; alcohol really came thru a little hot (3374 views)
Tasted by tb_baltimore on 6/9/2010 & rated 92 points: Excellent value and blend -- distinctive and smooth taste that pairs well with cheese -- (2849 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 4/6/2010 & rated 86 points: Jammy full fruit - ripe plum almost subtle cotton candy, tinny mineral, spice, earth turns to green olive on a moderate finish. (3161 views)
Tasted by Captain Haddock on 3/8/2010 & rated 88 points: Screwcapped. 14.5%. Soft purple colour. Perfumed nose, with notes of violets, hoi sin sauce and fruit pastilles. On the palate, a boiled sweet character with hints of liquorice. Very smooth mouthfeel with a bit of tannin near the finish, which was surprisingly long. Not a complicated wine, and slightly on the sweet side, but really lovely with the right sort of food. (3346 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 3/2/2010 & rated 92 points: Blend of Old-vine Grenache, Mataro(Mourvedre) and Shiraz. Exceptional value. Ripe succulent blend which I personally preferred to the Steading at half the price. (3160 views)
Tasted by boodra on 2/24/2010 & rated 84 points: Allthough the wine is enjoyable enough, it doesnt really speak to me. Its all about sweet candiced fruit. Pure and somewhat wellmade, but just not very interesting. More of a softdrink than wine! (3148 views)
Tasted by nogohawk on 1/31/2010 & rated 89 points: Nice shiraz-grenache blend; leaning more towards grenache; medium body with cherry and a bit of cocoa; nice finish (3165 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 1/7/2010 & rated 85 points: nose of raspberry, earth, herbs. mouth with cherry, good acidity, but lack of balance. (3374 views)
Tasted by drmattg on 12/21/2009: Served at a party I hosted. Didn't taste it! (3312 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 12/12/2009 & rated 87 points: decent wine good balance but no depth or gravitas. (3348 views)

Torbreck

Producer Website

2008 Torbreck (Cuvée) Juveniles

Producer website David Powell - Juveniles is a 'cult' Parisian wine bar run by the enigmatic ex-pat Englishman, Tim Johnston. He's been in Paris more than 20 years and is a passionate promoter of the Rhone Valley and its wines, particularly individualist, quality minded producers. Dave Powell hit it off with Tim over the years, eventually making a wine exclusively for his wine bar in 1999. In keeping with Tim and Dave's love of the Rhone Valley varietals and the fact they are equally at home in the Barossa, the blend constitutes old-vine Grenache, Mataro(Mourvedre) and Shiraz and was elevaged entirely in stainless steel.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
