We had the great privilege of meeting Laurence at Pegau and getting a nice lesson in the history of CDP and Pegau before having an opportunity to taste an unbelievable array of Pegau wines. I was surprised at how accessible and balanced the reserve cuvee was at this stage. Tremendous fruit with impeccable balance. Nice texture with extremely soft tannins. Loved this wine.

What a treat! Da Capo with Laurence in her cellar. She told the funny story about how she very briefly considered calling this wine Al Capone. What a sublime wine. This was super silky with great fruit. Restrained, but powerful. The finish goes on and on. It obviously needs more time, but I could see the 100 point potential here.

I loved this wine, but the 2005 packs serious tannins. The Laurence spends four years in barrel which makes it softer and more approachable than the reserve. Lush and smoky with notes of pepper, cloves, and indian spices and a very long, very dry finish. This needs a few more years, but there is no doubt it will be worth the wait. I would not even think of touching the 05 reserve for quite a bit longer.

Another great treat from Laurence. This was a barrel sample, but I believe it will be bottled fairly soon. Really nice wine with good structure and a bit more restrained fruit than the 07 and 05. Some mineral elements and really excellent balance. Laurence again proves her skill with a slightly more difficult vintage.
