Wow, this was a youngster! PnP, and the fruit was almost jumping out of the bottle/glass. Although good and a correct Southern Rhone wine, it seemed a little one-dimentional, and with a rather noticeable alcohol. However; it had structure, left me hoping this would benefit from a little more cellaring or airing time to fully come together. I left the rest for the next day - just screwed the cap on, and put it in the fridge. Like for day 1: Wow! What a transformation! The wine was much more subtle, integrated, and also showed more complexity. If I wasn't alone in the house, I would have thought someone seitched the wine inside the bottle. If this is giving a hint on this wines ability to evolve, I will keep my last bottle at least 10 more years. Points was for day 2.

Nose a tad hot, camphor, menthol, raspberry, garrigue hints, hints of roasting meat, hot. Palate not as jammy or hot as expected from nose, tannins integrated, reasonable balance, nice fruit, showing some age in a good way with secondary flavors of earth developing, a bit of iron minerality in it.

Down six points from our first bottle on 4/30/11 -- this has now become thin and without much taste or smell. I guess if there was an optimal drinking window it has passed for this one, at least in my opinion. There is really no cherry sense, no spice, nothing more than a mild sense of alcohol. The wine is not 'bad' or 'turned', but it has no complexity and no interesting notes at all.

Decanted for about an hour while cooking - risotto with goat cheese and asparagus - and drunk with dinner. Bright, fresh nose of spice and garrigue with a background of cherry. On the palate, red fruit, Ceylon cinnamon, tannins rough but balance the fruit nicely. Finish on the short side. Great food wine, wish I had more.

for the price point, this was a stunning wine. It had a lovely nose, evocative of sweet cherries, earthen wooeds, and garrigue. It shows beautifully without food, but would pair well with a light dinner. It was well-integrated, and despite being a non-vintage selection, was simply fantastic. The mouthfeel was much lighter than a Chateauneuf-de-Pape, and slightly more structured than a Cotes-du-Rhone. Overall, a lovely, evocative, alluring wine, and one which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I think my expectations were too high on this one -- I'd been steered to it as a less expensive, but still excellent wine by Dom Pegau -- I've not tried their more expensive wines, but thought I'd start here. The cost is certainly reasonable, but unlike other wines in this price range, I didn't come away feeling that I'd tasted something that made me want to explore more of their winery efforts. I like the Southern Rhone styles, but this is weak and un-interesting as a blend. The nose is modest, a bit of spice with some small amount of cherry and some herb. The taste is almost bitter, more on the mineral end. I sense a small amount of cherry and some spice, but nothing to reflect a quality blend that I would have expected. This winery is famous for their high end Chateauneuf-du-Pape, so I was hoping for a less expensive entry point into their blend of wine-making. This is really not it. I'd place it even lower on the scale relative to my expectations, but otherwise its not bad for a BBQ or family event, just not a serious wine, in my opinion ($14 with discount). This was sampled over several hours, so not a decanting issue.

This is from the Southern Rhone? Popped and poured. Darker fruited, silky. No rhone funk, garrigue, etc. Not a knock, but this could have been a grenache from the Central Coast. Easy drinker, enjoyable, and great QPR at $18 (Ohio).

no more than ok. Some fruit - cherry, raspberry - with hints of licorice and a dominating and distracting orange note. No real definition or depth of the fruit. Palate was thin and didn't carry the alcohol.

As usual this is really enjoyable Southern Rhone with an excellent qpr. Dark fruit, garrigue and earth. Not alot of depth or concentration but a very pleasant baby Pegau. For the price, this wine never disappoints me.

A stunning bottle of wine. This is only $18 but I've tasted many $30-$50 Chateauneuf-du-Papes that weren't this good. Ripe sexy Grenache with a powerful Carignan structure and smoky Syrah fruit. Long and luscious with great earth and mineral. Very long finish. Will improve dramatically over the next 10 years.

Remember that this wine, being a vin de table, is sans vintage, but that lot number that looks a bit like a year (2007) kind of gives it away. Regardless of vintage this Southern Rhone blend featuring Grenache, Syrah, Carignane, and who knows what else, does a serviceable, if not good job of transmitting the flavors of the southern Rhone at a price point that is incredibly reasonable. This bottle can be had in my area for $12!
I like this wine for its ability to frame the scents and flavors of a Chateauneuf du Pape without breaking the bank. Served after a short decant, this wine has a nice weight and features a bit of gaminess combined with relatively ripe fruit flavors. There's no mistaking this for its more expensive siblings, but it's certainly a quality wine for the price.

Completely different profile compared to the Plan Pegau 2003... Nose of black fruit, myrtilles, underwood, is it the tiny quantity of merlot that we feel here?... in the month, black fruit, light tannins, good lenght 89+/100

The nose was closed and alcoholic with tiny hints of black fruit and flowers. Very thin palate, and a tannic finish that was not enjoyable. Slight amount of fruit that is fading fast. It developed very little over the course of 2 hours. Given that it is a Vin de Table I shouldn't get too worked up regardless of the producer.
Not a good QPR. I can think of 10 other wines that I would rather purchase for the same money. See my other notes for ideas.

Somewhat translucent ruby. Band-aid, kirsch & hot nose (somewhat surprising given it's supposedly 13.5% ABV). Sweet kirsch entry, soft tannins, no oak, dried garrigue middle, minerally finish. Decent effort but, given the vintage & its price (at least in BC @ C$27) represents dubious value.

I may have mis-identified this wine witr the 07 designation. It actually is the 2007.
Medium/dark red. The nose shows very primal red fruit notes. Really nice flavours and nice acid in the finish. This could age a bit and become something very nice. Delicious if the nose is a bit one dimensional.
