  • 2004 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Bourgogne Blanc Clos du Château

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose smelled like the wine was a little bit pre-moxed which bared out on the palate. Some aromas of apple and pear. Flavors of sherry up front with added notes of pears. Drinkable but why? Drink a bottle now if you have any as a data point.

  • 1999 Château de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Dent de Chien

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Really odd nose of bacon fat dominates with an added note of Windex. Mostly a mineral presence on the palate with a little bit of yellow pear thrown in. Light acidity, light to medium body. Also just a little bit of heat on the palate. I'm guessing this wine is a victim of poor provenance or simply has faded away. No rating as a result.

  • 2003 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines Vieille Vigne Flawed

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Subdued nose of dishwater and pepper that eventually began to show that the wine was corked. Palate still had some berries and cherries but quickly began to once again reveal that it was corked. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Too bad. I got all of the way to taking a small test before it finally caved in. No rating obviously.
